This is another type of podcast that is largely attainable for ELT because they can be tailored to the preferences of exclusive learners. According to Yoshida (2013), in most EFL contexts where English learners have few opportunities to use the foreign language outside the classroom, providing real and authentic opportunities to practice speaking skills can be a valuable endeavor. Due to its small file size, it can be downloaded via a computer or mobile phone connected to the Internet.
Speaking Skill
Definition of Speaking
Although the technology has advanced at this point, it is sometimes a bit challenging to find the material directly in the file. The above explanation indicates that for students to speak well, they need to practice their speaking skills regularly.
The Aspect of Speaking skill
Fluency is how students can speak at rates that are acceptable with multiple false doubts (Nunan, 2015). Lade (1961, p. 240) shows that speaking ability is the ability to report actions or situations with the right words or communicate or express the sequence of ideas smoothly. Foster and Skehan in Nunan (2004, p. 87) propose a model for assessing speech in which fluency is measured by considering the number of seconds of silence and time spent saying 'um' and 'ah' because they complete the task.
According to Thornbury (2005), p ronunciation refers to learners' ability to produce comprehensible expressions to meet the demands of the task. According to Brown (2001, p Grammar is a system of rules that govern the conventional arrangement and relationship of words in a sentence Thornbury (2005, p. 129) “Interactive communication refers to a candidate's ability to interact with another person and other candidates by initiating and respond appropriately and at the speed and rhythm necessary to meet the demands of the task.” Brown (2001, p. 269) states that most of the difficulties students encounter in speaking are characteristics of interactive communication.
Thus, students usually have problems with how to say what, when to say and other discourse constants. Although they struggle in this aspect, evaluating students based on how well they communicate trains them to speak naturally. According to Halliday (1985, p. 87), complexity lies in the fact that spoken language is just as organized, structured and complex as written language.
Brown, Anderson, Shilock, and Yule, as cited by Nunan (2004, p. 86), say that what makes speaking difficult is related to the type of information that needs to be conveyed and relates to the scope of the task and the interpersonal relationships between different elements. .
The Importance of Speaking Skills
Grammar Warriner explains in Ramli (2003) that speaking will flow smoothly if the grammar is easy to understand. Fluency is the ease with which speakers can construct linguistically complex sentences with complex structures. Fluency refers to knowing and demonstrating what one wants to say in response to various situational constraints.

The Participants and Research Site
Method of data collection
Semi-structured interviews were used in this study because they allow for clarification and follow-up questions to elicit information from the interviewee. A semi-structured interview is a type of interview in which the researcher still has the flexibility to ask additional questions or discuss other topics to gain more information about the topic being discussed (Lambert, 2012). The first theme consists of a number of questions about the effect students have of using podcasts as learning media on improving speaking skills.

Furthermore, the researcher also wants to find advantages and disadvantages of using podcasts as a learning medium. Based on the interview results, the students have a certain effect of using podcasts as a learning medium. All participants said that it is very interesting to use podcasts as a learning medium to improve their speaking skills.
I think the podcast is a great medium for learning English because the podcast is easy to access and very flexible to use. However, if we have used a podcast a lot, we will automatically unconsciously practice getting used to speaking during the podcast process. The content of the podcast is conversations, which automatically gets us used to listening to the vocabulary of each conversation or topic discussed in the podcast.
And also, podcasts have a lot of interesting material to hear. The learning materials that I often find on podcasts include health, politics, motivation and learning foreign languages. Participant 6's response above shows that when the podcast material is of long duration, listeners or students find it difficult and get bored. Participant 1's response above shows that podcasts are ineffective enough for students with low listening skills because they will have difficulty understanding the podcast content.
Sometimes when listening to a podcast I can't understand what the speaker is saying if the speaker in the podcast uses a British accent that I've never heard before.
Discussion
This is because they often lose vital information in the podcast content presented, resulting in reduced comprehension or a complete lack of understanding of the speaker's message. Moreover, it was found that there were statistically significant differences in the perceptions and attitudes of the two groups of Chinese and Korean language learning students at the University of Singapore in using podcasts in learning, for four reasons, namely (a) the purpose of the podcast and students' learning motivation; b) discrepancies between podcast designs and students' expectations, needs and preferences; c) encouragement of teachers and preparation of students; and d) mobile learning experiences (Chan et al., 2011). Therefore, the perception of students from Tanjungpura Pontianak University about using podcasts in learning English is that it is fun because it is very flexible, a useful tool for learning English and improving speaking, listening, reading and can improve writing skills (Kohar et al., 2014).
It can provide access to authentic materials, support self-regulated learning, increase language confidence and create active learning (Youstara & Putri). Moreover, foreign students learning Indonesian accept that the implementation of Podcasts improves students' listening skills, grammatical knowledge and knowledge about the culture of the target community (Istanto & Indrianti, 2011). This confidence can be increased due to their ability to understand the rhetoric of specific topics through repeated listening and oral performances (Samad, 2016).
Based on the findings and discussion, it can be concluded that students' perceptions of using podcasts as a learning tool to improve their speaking skills are excellent. In addition, there are also some advantages and disadvantages of using podcasts as a medium for students' English. Based on the above analysis and discussion, it can be concluded that using podcasts as a teaching tool to help students improve their speaking skills is effective because it has many advantages and disadvantages.
Thus, students can continue to practice speaking skills by listening to a podcast that suits their needs.
Recommendations
Students are free to choose a podcast despite its sound characteristics, the content is also interesting and useful to listen to, the pronunciation is clear, the accent is similar to the accents of the locals and it offers an authentic learning aid that describes their everyday life. activities. In addition, we can choose our favorite topics in the podcast, such as entertainment, learning foreign languages, health, psychology, etc. The podcast is easy to use and easily accessible and effectively improves my speaking skills.
Question: Based on your experience, do you think the podcast can help you with the fluency and vocabulary of your speaking skills. Because everyone's listening level is different and they will have difficulty understanding the content of the podcast. Nevertheless, after listening to a podcast, I think it motivated me to speak as the speaker in the podcast.
Advertisements or other offers for podcast content often appear on the podcast player platform. So the podcast provides a lot of information about skin care that I couldn't find in other media. So sometimes I get a little misunderstanding about the material that the speaker presented in the podcast.
