To start, when I was child, my parents introduced the chickens to me, which taught me how to manage well as well as feeding and welfare. In my opinion, humans and chickens have been inextricably linked to each other. Since, they have played an important role in the provisioning of protein source and eventually as models for comparative research, not only as protein source but also carries significant cultural, and social responsibilities for the care and use of animals. It also mandates a deep understanding of chicken biological aspects including their physiology, behavior, welfare, and genetics. Equally important is understanding the humans and chickens within the managed ecosystems in which we live. As future projections indicate the rise in consumption of animal proteins, and the challenge we face with sustaining our natural resources to engage in the integrative systems based on the research to answer these future challenges.
As I approach my work in the Faculty of Animal Science at the Universitas Brawijaya, I am writing to inquire about participating in the Full bright scholarship in the United States in order to gain more proficiency in my major. Much of my work has been based at the university and research. Having been accepted into the Masters in Animal Science at National Pingtung University Science and Technology, I am writing to express my interest in participating in the full bright scholarship in the United states. I have overcome the disadvantages of an underprivileged background to obtain a M.Sc. graduating summa cum laude. As you will see, the research I intend to pursue is focused on the program’s aims of animal science including animal science and animal welfare. This scholarship would help me pursue those aims and directly benefit the result from others. I have started contributing to my faculty and university, including curating the National council of feed in Bogor. I worked at the Faculty of Animal Science, Universitas Brawijaya, Malang, East Java, Indonesia and have published a number of well-reviewed academic papers on reputable indexes. My career aim is to become a lecturer and researcher who contributes well-contributed for the nation. My personal characteristic is cheerful, a lone of wolf, well-organized, young energy, and willing to assist with any task.
In my perspective, I kept dreaming of learning, one of the universities in the US such as Purdue University, University of Wisconsin-river falls, and University of Washington. As I know, Purdue university presents the best animal care and management practices, which imposes new standards for poultry housing. They also develop disseminations which are related to animal welfare issues. Second, the University of Wisconsin-river falls are well-known among the animal scientists which are popular majors that provide animal welfare. Their animal welfare lab was established with a gift from the Kraft Heins Company, is an American multinational company that is also listed in the US stock price (NASDAQ). At the same time, University of Washington is well-known to establish IACUC that is related to vertebrate animal care.
Upon graduation, for a short term, as a support for my current role as a lecturer, I intend to support my “living lab” to promote practical innovation in the sector through experimentation under real-life conditions. These are essential to reduce the gap among students, institutions, and governments. The post-doctoral programs in one of the United states universities are my
top priorities to pursue to continue the collaboration of the experiment. Hence, I am confident that I have what it takes to be a good return on Fulbright investment.
