The objective of this research were intended to find out the use of series picture to give improvement of the students’ ability to write descriptive text in term of content and organization.
The research design used in this research was quasi experimental design with pre-test and post-test design. The comparison between pre-test and post-test score depended on the success of the treatment that was aim at finding out the use of series picture to improve the students’ ability to write descriptive text at the second grade of SMP Muhammadiyah Limbung of both of experiment and control class. The population was the second grade in academic years 2014/2015. The researcher took class VIII2 and VIII4.
The result of this research showed that the pre-test and post-test of experimental got (pre-test : 4.36 and post-test : 7.3 ) and the pre-test and post-test of control got ( pre-test: 3.39 and post-test : 5.86 ). This showed that there was significant difference between the students who were taught by use the series picture and those who were taught without series picture.
The result of the t-test value (5.14) was greater than t-table (2.452). This was means that H1 was accepted. The study concluded that the use of series picture can improve the students’ ability to write descriptive text at SMP Muhammadiyah Limbung.
