within the stomach.Owing
to the exigencies of the situation, itwas
difhcult to preserve parasitic materialand
only samples were obtained.He
also says that, so far as hismemory
serves, the wall of thestomach
of a parasitized animal did notshow
ulcers. This condition indicates that theremay be
a division of the genus Contracaecuminto ulcer-formingand non
ulcer-forming species just as thereis in the genus Ileierakis.NEMATODA

interlabia carry certain definite organs. The
siibmedian dorsal in-
terlabia contain the amphids which
according to Steiner are sense
organs of the olfactory or gustatory type. The
ventral interlabiiim
supports in itslower part the terminal portionoftheexcretoryduct.
It
may

In
comparing
thetwo
species described above, the dissimilarity in the distribution of thecaudal papillae of the males is at once evi- dent.So
far as the writer is aware, the arrangement as seen in C.magnipapillatum is entirely different
from any
other species, while that of C. turgidum is quite typical. Material representing five species, including the above, has beenexamined and
reference has beenmade
to the remainder of the described species.The
eggs of thesetwo
species are also conspicuously different in the character of the shell. Itmay
be thatwhen
other species of Contracaecumhave
been recoveredfrom
other species of terns, anew
genus, or at least a subgenus, will be indicated.CESTODA
