Notes: Index and GDP data axis values are based on the average of 117 economies ranked in the Travel and Tourism Development Index 2021. The Travel and Tourism Development Index (TTDI) is the World Economic Forum's long-term travel and tourism development Competitiveness Index. Work on the new TTDI began following the publication of the Travel & Tourism Competitiveness Report 2019: Travel and tourism at a turning point.

Safety and Security
The Corruption Perceptions Index (CPI) ranks 180 countries and territories on a scale of 0 to 100 based on their perceived level of corruption in the public sector, according to experts and businesspeople. A country's CPI score is then calculated as the average of all standardized scores available for that country.
Health and Hygiene
This indicator includes both people using basic water services and those using safely managed water services. Basic drinking water services are defined as drinking water from an improved source, provided collection time does not exceed 30 minutes for a return trip. Digital platforms refer to services and labor markets accessible through a digital interface, often focused on short-term contracts and task-based work. Value added taxes (VAT) were calculated based on an average ticket price for each country, applied to half of departing passengers, because VAT is usually only charged on itineraries originating in that country. Average room rates calculated for mid- to high-end hotels for a calendar year ($) | 12-month average through July 2021. The World Bank defines the purchasing power parity (PPP) conversion factor as the number of units of a country's currency required to buy the same amount of goods and services domestically as $1 would buy in the United States.
The official exchange rate refers to the exchange rate set by national authorities or the rate determined on a legally permitted exchange market. The variable shown is the PKM to market exchange rate conversion factor as reported by the World Bank's World Development Indicators database.

This index measures the average price, in dollars, of mid-range to upper-upscale hotel accommodation in each country. The index is calculated using the average room rate achieved by mid-scale to upper-scale hotels in each country over a 12-month period from July 2020 to July 2021 to mitigate the impact of any seasonal fluctuations. It is calculated as an annual average based on monthly averages (local currencies relative to the US dollar).

This intangible cultural heritage, transmitted from generation to generation, is constantly recreated by communities and groups in response to their environment and their interaction with nature and their history, giving them a sense of identity and continuity and thus promoting respect for cultural diversity and human creativity. The Intergovernmental Committee for the Protection of the Intangible Cultural Heritage annually evaluates nominations proposed by the States Parties to the Convention for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage and decides whether these cultural practices and expressions of intangible heritage should be included in the Convention's lists.

The UNESCO Creative Cities Network (UCCN) was established in 2004 to promote cooperation with and between cities that have identified creativity as a strategic factor for sustainable urban development. Beta level cities are cities that connect moderate economic regions to the world economy and are classified into three sections: Beta +, Beta and Beta - cities. Gamma-level cities are cities that connect smaller economic regions of the world economy and are classified into three sections: Gamma +, Gamma and Gamma − cities.
Sufficient level cities are cities that have a sufficient level of services not to be overly dependent on world cities. Number of top 10,000 universities as ranked by Webometrics Ranking of World Universities | 2021 This indicator is the weighted average of all universities based on ranking level.

Average share of marine, freshwater and terrestrial Key Biodiversity Areas (KBAs) covered by protected areas | 2020. Key Biodiversity Areas (KBAs) are locations of global importance for the overall health of the planet and the survival of biodiversity. For the purpose of this indicator, data are collected on the average share of CBAs covered by protected areas for the marine, freshwater and terrestrial environments.
The final value is derived by weighting KBA protection figures for the three environments according to their respective share of the total land area.
