Admissions and Transfers
Check with the School of Liberal Arts Office of Student Affairs (Cavanaugh Hall 401, count for details. Undistributed (UNDI) credits will generally count toward the student's degree requirements, but the specific way in which they will count (either toward a requirement or as an elective) will be determined by the School of Liberal Arts and its departments.

Major Requirements
In addition to advanced courses in one's major, the SLA student must undertake in-depth study in constituent areas of the liberal arts. Courses counted toward the distribution requirements may not be included as part of the 12 credit hours required in one discipline, nor as part of the additional 5-7 hours required in related disciplines.
Minors
If withdrawals are submitted before the end of the first half of the semester or summer session, a grade of W (withdrawn) is automatically assigned and recorded on official transcripts. After that, but before the end of the third quarter of class, the signatures of the advisor and the instructor are required, and the instructor marks a grade of W or F.
Academic Standing
Students who do not accept this responsibility risk their records by the possibility of receiving a failing grade in a course that was not properly graded and/or not receiving credit for work done in a course that was has not been added properly. Petition for Grade Change Students or faculty members may petition for a change in course grades.
Special Opportunities for Students
Honors Awards Each spring semester, the School of Liberal Arts holds an Honors Convocation to recognize achievement. Through this, a student in the School of Liberal Arts can enroll in courses not offered by IUPUI, but at another member faculty.
Special Study Programs
Foreign Language Special Credit for Liberal Arts Students Students with prior foreign language study may receive special credit by taking a placement exam and completing the course in which they are placed with a grade of C or better. good. A student whose native language is not English may petition the dean of the School of Liberal Arts for an exemption from the non-credit foreign language requirement.
Indiana University Overseas Study Programs
In the School of Liberal Arts, credit is available in (1) arts and humanities, and (2) social and behavioral sciences.
Teacher Certification
Students should plan programs carefully with their departmental advisors and the School of Education certification advisor. IUPUl's Weekend College, which began as a program of the School of Liberal Arts in 1973, offers regular credit courses on Saturdays and Sundays.
Awards, Prizes, and Scholarships
The association is committed to providing students with opportunities to apply their education to the realities of organizational development. Telecommunication Open Channel is an organization of students interested in television, radio, closed-circuit systems and general audio-visual production.' The organization maintains a pool of qualified personnel for area manufacturers and provides a listing of employment opportunities and career information in the field.

Presented to the graduating senior with the highest average in the field of history. Presented to outstanding performers in the IUPUI New York Street Singers and the IUPUIJazz Ensemble.
Campus Resources
Houston, who served in the English departments at the Indianapolis regional campuses of both Purdue University and Indiana University from 1963 to 1975. The recipient must be an outstanding student in the Departments of Language and Literature at Indiana University's School of Liberal Arts or in Technical Communications at the IUPUI Purdue School of Engineering and Technology.
Health Care and Insurance
This memorial award recognizes the IUPUI student who submits the year's outstanding work in biomedical ethics. The Thelander Memorial Prize is awarded to an IUPUI student for outstanding achievement in a paper on a historical topic.
Libraries
The recipient must have completed at least 56 credit hours, but not more than 90, with at least an overall academic record of 3.5 or higher, and must be considered a person of moral responsibility and high professional potential. The award is given by the College's Department of History in memory of former member of that department, Theodore Thelander, Jr.
