SCOPE OF PROBLEM

CHAPTER 1

PRELIMARY

(3)

The increasing growth of the human population has a negative impact on the availability of concrete materials.

Development will continue to grow as will the need for concrete in the future. In the future, development will continue to increase, as will the demand for concrete. The goal of this research is to find out how the usage of shell waste affects the compressive strength of regular concrete and what percentage of shell waste substitute should be used to achieve the best concrete compressive strength.

(4)

• How does adding shell waste to regular concrete impact its compressive strength?

• What are the qualities of concrete with 0%, 6%, 12%, and 16% shells?

• What is the compressive strength of concrete that contains shells as well as coarse aggregate?

FORMULATION OF THE

PROBLEM

(5)

RESEARCH PURPOSE

• Knowing the impact of adding shell waste to the compressive strength of normal

concrete that has been added shell trash.

• Knowing the strength characteristics of

concrete with shell percentages of 0%, 6%, 12%, and 16%.

• Knowing whether concrete with a mixture of

shells can be used in construction buildings.

(6)

SCOPE OF PROBLEM

• The shells used are shells from the beach of Pondong Village.

• The compressive strength test was done at 7 and 28 days of age.

• By reducing the amount of coarse aggregate, variations in the utilization of blood clams are 0 percent, 6 %, 12 %, and 16%

(substitute material).

• There are a total of 12 compressive strength test objects employed.

• Testing at Mulawarman University's Faculty of Civil Engineering's Laboratory.

• The water used is from Mulawarman University's Faculty of

Engineering's Laboratory.
