Judul Skripsi: Students' perception of their reading comprehension through comic books as a medium in ninth grade SMP Negeri 2 Alla. Students' perception of their reading comprehension through comic books as a medium in ninth grade SMP Negeri 2 Alla. This study aimed to find out the students' perception of their reading comprehension through comic books as media at SMP Negeri 2 Alla in the academic year 2020/2021. The researcher applied a descriptive quantitative method.

Therefore, we conclude that comic books as a medium of students' perception have a positive response in students' reading comprehension. Therefore, the author focuses the research on the title of the diploma thesis "Student's perception of reading comprehension with the help of comics as a medium in the ninth grade of SMP Negeri 2 Alla".

Problem Statement

It made the students to read the text again and again to find the answer, so the students would waste so much time. Based on this background of the research, the writer is interested in finding out more about conditions related to comics as a medium used in teaching process of narrative text and analysis of reading comprehension of ninth grade students.

The Scope of the Research

Teaching Reading Comprehension of Narrative Text through Comic Books', this study aimed to find out whether there was an improvement in reading comprehension of narrative texts and which aspects of reading improved the most. It can be concluded that the implementation of comic books could improve students' reading comprehension of the narrative text and specific information as the aspect of reading that improved the most. Secondly, Helmi (2018) conducted research on “The Effectiveness of Using Comic in Teaching Reading Narrative Text”, focusing on the use of comics as a media in teaching reading to eighth grade students at the Junior High School in Ngawi.

Third, Nurul (2019) conducted research on "Using Comic Strips to Improve Students' Reading Comprehension of Narrative Text", this study was conducted to find out the improvement of students' reading comprehension of a narrative text through comic strips . Fourth, Septiana (2019) conducted a research on "The effectiveness of using comics to teach students' reading comprehension in narrative text", this research aims to find the effectiveness of using comics as alternative media to teach comprehension of reading the narrative text about the tithe. Class students of SMK Negeri 2 Sragen. It can be concluded that the application of stripless usage is effective in teaching narrative text comprehension to the tenth grade students of SMK Negeri 2 Sragen in the academic year 2018/2019.

The third researcher investigates the use of comics to improve students' reading comprehension of narrative text to find out the improvement of students' reading comprehension of narrative text through comics. Based on the experts' definitions, it can be concluded that reading comprehension is the main purpose of reading activity. Finally, reading comprehension is both the purpose of reading and the purpose of reading instruction.

Students' perception of reading comprehension problems in this study can be demonstrated through their responses to the questionnaire. The researcher investigated the following conceptual framework on “students' perception of their reading comprehension through comic books as media”. In conclusion, the researcher analyzes when the teacher teaches narrative text and then uses comic books as media. We can see students' perception of comic books as media based on their reading comprehension through narrative text.

Research Design

The population of this study consisted of the students of the ninth grade of SMP Negeri 2 Alla in the academic year 2019/2020. There are four classes in class A with 21 students, B contains 22 students, C contains 21 students, D contains 20 students and the total number of ninth class is 84 students. In this study, the researcher used the Purposive Sampling Technique because in this study, all classes use comic books as a medium. Therefore, all classes have the same chance of being the sample of this study.

Based on the data above, it can be concluded that more students strongly agree. Based on the data above, it can be concluded that more students choose strongly agree and agree, it means that students are familiar with Comics even though the teacher uses it as a media in reading narrative text. Based on the data above, it can be concluded that students differ strongly, it means that students can improve their reading comprehension with the help of image in Comic Books Media in reading narrative text.

Based on the data above, it can be concluded that students agree, this means that the Comic Books Media facilitates narrative text learning, including determining the story line. Based on the data above, it can be concluded that students strongly agree with the help of Comic Books Media, this means because it makes it easier for students to know the storyline of the narrative text. Based on the data above, it can be concluded that students agree more with the use of Comic Books as a Media, this means that Comic Books Media makes it easier for some students to determine the storyline in reading narrative text.

Based on the above data, it can be concluded that students prefer using comic books as a medium. This means that students find it easier to figure out the storyline when reading narrative text.

DISCUSSION

From the questionnaire statement 8 “it is easier to read and determine the main idea in reading narrative text through comics”. It can be concluded that the students can understand the text well, so they can give a positive response to the use of comics as a medium in reading narrative texts. This means that students give a positive response to the use of comics as a medium.

Based on the results above, it shows that students give a positive response to Comic Books as a Media. The use of Comic Books as a Media is to enrich students' reading lessons to increase interest in reading English materials, one of which is narrative texts and to increase students' understanding through lessons held in class. Based on the analysis of the questionnaire, it was found that the average score of students' perceptions about their reading comprehension through Comic Books as a Media is 66.45%, this indicates that students have a Positive Perception of the use of Comic Books as a Media on students' reading comprehension.

The results found that Comic Books as a Media gave most students a positive response in learning reading comprehension through narrative. Based on the results of previous studies, it can be seen that this study has similarities because students have positive perceptions about the use of comic books as a media in reading comprehension. Based on the findings and discussion in the previous chapter, the researcher concluded that the Ninth Grade Students (Class D) of SMP Negeri 2 Alla had a positive perception about the use of Comic Books as a Media used by English teacher is used to teach reading. comprehension.

This means that the student likes and enjoys when the teacher uses comics as a reading comprehension medium.

Suggestion

Students are satisfied with using Comic Books as media, students are more motivated and enthusiastic in improving reading comprehension, students are easier to understand the content of narrative text through Comic Books as media, and students are more easy to discover the story line, scene and characters in the stories of the narrative text in learning reading comprehension. Effects of teaching using cartoons to facilitate students' reading comprehension skills in narrative text. Teaching narrative text for reading comprehension through comic books in the second grade of SMPN 8 Bandar Lampung.
