These vocabularies have been taught for several years, allowing students to build sentences. This means that students have to remember and recall a lot of vocabulary that has been mastered before (Hammer, 2007. But actually, students have to master the vocabulary in terms of verbs, the word related to nouns, adjectives and adverbs.

Those vocabulary problems need to be addressed because it can be difficult for students to move on to the next level or grade. Also, students may have low motivation in learning English because they think that English is difficult. Based on the above background, the researcher is interested in "Effectiveness of using mnemonic strategy to improve students".

The scope of the research is limited to the use of mnemonic strategy to improve the vocabulary of students in the eighth grade of SMP Negeri 33 Bulukumba.

It is very useful for students in improving students' vocabulary acquire and words position in sentence. This is because a mnemonic can be used to help students master interesting concepts, so this model can also be learned with pleasure. Moreover, a mnemonic can be very effective and can make students motivated and the classroom more interesting (Georger cited Amiruddin in 2011:180).

This is because a mnemonic can be used to help students master interesting concepts, so the mnemonic can also be learned with pleasure. AND DISCUSSION

Findings

This is evidenced by the vocabulary test, as indicated by the significant difference between the pre-test and post-test score. On the pre-test, the students received a low score (42.27) because they were still confused in understanding the vocabulary and they did not understand the vocabulary well. Based on the percentages above, there is a significant improvement in students' vocabulary in terms of adjectives after taking an action after the pre-test using Mnemonic Strategy.

The graphic above shows that the average score for the pretest is 42.27. This means that the students' scores are classified as poor. This means that the students' score is classified as very good and achieved improvement, so it can be said that there is a significant improvement in the students' vocabulary especially for adjective, which is clearly shown in the chart after taking an action in treatment by using Mnemonic Strategy. After implementation of Mnemonic strategy, in the post-test there were no students who were very poor, poor and fair.

In the pre-test, the students got a low score (47.27) because they were still confused to understand the vocabulary and they did not understand the vocabulary well. Before the implementation of mnemonic strategy indicated that pre-test assessment is very poor (47.72), but after the implementation of mnemonic strategy in post-test, the assessment of their vocabulary in the term of noun improves. Based on the percentages above, there is a significant improvement of students' vocabulary in the term of noun after taking an action after pre-test using Mnemonic Strategy.

The graph above indicates that the mean pre-test score is 47.72. This means that the student's score is classified as poor. It means that there was a significant difference between the vocabulary of the students before and after using Mnemonic Strategy in the vocabulary of the eighth grade students of SMP Negeri 33 Bulukumba.

Discussion

Here are the steps of classroom teaching: The teacher introduces the material to be taught in class The teacher makes a large copy of the story so students can see the word clearly The teacher uses a pointer and shows each word. while the teacher reads, The teacher asks the students to read the words again, The teacher asks the students to translate the word into Indonesian, The teacher asks the students to memorize the words, At the end of the item and each learning process, the teacher asks the students to make sentences based on the words. From the above research findings, the writer concluded that in the process of teaching and learning vocabulary, teachers should attract students' attention and involve them in learning actively by creating good English teaching materials. , especially in teaching vocabulary. So here I found the mnemonic strategy that I think is a good strategy in teaching vocabulary.

Teaching vocabulary using mnemonic strategy not only memorizes, but the students read, with good pronunciation, memorize while understanding the vocabulary. When it found that the value of t-test was greater than the value of t-table, it means that null hypothesis (H0) was rejected and Alternative hypothesis (H1) was accepted because there was significant difference between pre-test and post-test. test before and after learning vocabulary in the term adjective and noun using Mnemonic Strategy. Meanwhile, when it found that the value of t-test was lower than the value of t-table, it means that null hypothesis (H0) was accepted and Alternative hypothesis (H1) was rejected because there was no significant difference between pre-test. and posttest before and after teaching vocabulary in the term adjective and noun using Mnemonic Strategy.

This means that there was a significant difference between the students' vocabulary before and after using the mnemonic strategy in the seventh grade students of SMPN 33 Bulukumba. From the above discussion, it can be concluded that the students' vocabulary in seventh grade students at SMPN 33 Bulukumba can be improved in vocabulary in adjective and noun expression by using mnemonic strategy. Based on the findings of the research and the discussions in the previous chapter, the researcher can conclude that the mnemonic strategy is effective for the improvement of students. vocabulary in the eighth grade of SMP Negeri 33 Bulukumba.

It appeared from the students' vocabulary in the term of adjective for the post-test is greater than the mean score for the pre-test. so that the improvement of students' vocabulary in terms of adjective is 53.26%. the students' vocabulary in terms of nouns for the post-test is greater than the average score of the pre-test. This means that there was a significant difference between the students' vocabulary before and after using the Mnemonic Strategy in the eight grade students at SMPN 33 Bulukumba. The researcher suggests the teacher, especially in the teacher's vocabulary, not only to ask the student's learning by heart, but the students should read so that they can have a good pronunciation and learn by heart while understanding this vocabulary.
