a hole in the ground where the bodies of six Indonesian military generals were discarded after members of the Indonesian Communist Party (PKI) supposedly tortured them to death in a failed coup attempt back on Sept. 30, 1965.
Seven people who were later called heroes of the revolution died as victims of PKI cruelty. they are general ahmad yani, mayjen r. soeprapto, mayjen m.t. haryono, mayjen s. parman, brigjen d.i. Lengaitan, brigjen sutoyo, and lettu Pierre a. tendean. The seven men were forcibly picked up by the outer fire, the arch-presidential security forces now, from their residences in the middle of the night and early morning.
Some were taken alive, others were lifeless as a result of the heavy fire of the firing of the column.
They were all taken to Lubang Buaya pit area, east Jakarta, and the bodies were dumped in a small well hole, which was call Lubang Buaya well. Since the kidnapping incident, an intensive pursuit was carried out at dawn, October 1, 1965. the RPKAD team received instructions that the officers were taken to the Lubang Buaya area, Pondok Gede, Pasar Rebo District, East Jakarta.
The southern side of this area is a rubber forest which is commonly used for practice shooting by groups of people with foreign political ideologies. Some members of the RPKAD team who were at the site crept closer to a well. From a distance, they saw a number of fully armed people who were ready for battle.
Knowing this, this RPK-AD member immediately believed that the armed group in front of him were troops from the G30S/PKI.They believed that, because the team had received a report that several hours earlier an armed group had taken seven Indonesian Army officers who had been held captive to this location. However, knowing the number of armed troops far larger than the approaching RPK-AD team, they crawled back to their command post.Unfortunately, at that time the armed forces had already smelled the signs that someone else was stalking them.
Finally, these troops also crawled along to find out how strong the troops that were threatening their existence were.
The RPK-AD team, who had returned to the command post and met with other members, finally decided to move closer to the suspected location and conduct a siege with certain techniques. As it turned out, the number of RPK-AD teams was as large as the armed forces in Lubang Buaya.
The armed forces did not even dare to match the strength of the RPK-AD and decided to leave. The location was already under the control of the RPK-AD, an investigation to find the bodies of the
kidnapped TNI AD officers began. These bodies were found in an old well with a depth of 12 meters with a diameter of approximately 75 cm.This well is covered with leaves, colorful cloth, banana stems, and garbage. Based on the stories compiled, the corpse at the top of the pile was First Lieutenant Pierre A.
Tendean. General A. Yani is in the fourth, D.I. Panjaitan in the lowest position, and M.T. Haryono on it.
Finally the seven bodies that were dumped in the well were successfully pulled using a mine to the surface, on Monday, October 4, 1965.The day after that, October 5, 1965, the seven bodies of the Kusuma Bangsa were buried in the Kalibata Heroes Cemetery, to coincide with the 20th Anniversary of ABRI
