SYLLABUS

INTERNATIONAL PROGRAM FOR ISLAMIC ECONOMICS AND FINANCE (IPIEF)

FACULTY ECONOMIC AND BUSINESS UNIVERSITAS MUHAMMADIYAH YOGYAKARTA

Name of Course : Introduction to Business Credit Value : 3 (three)

Semester : 1 (one)

Instructor : Drs. Wahdi Salasi April Yudhi, M.D.A., Ph.D

Course Description:

This course introduces students to know and understand the contemporary business world, business management, organization, marketing principles, managing information, and financial problems. In addition, it introduces selected topics related to Islamic business and will be discussed throughout the course.

Course Objective:

The main goal is to give students an understanding of the basic principles of business, global business, entrepreneurship, management, marketing, information technology, and financial management. Another purpose of this program is to introduce students about Islamic business, especially in Indonesia. The students will assign to propose business practice and sell their products directly to customers (Business start-up).

Measure Success:

On successful completion of this subject students should be able to:

1. Understand and identify the external environments of business and global economic systems.

2. Understand and identify current global challenges and how they affect businesses.

3. Distinguish social responsibility from ethics and evaluate Corporate Social Responsibility Programs.

4. Distinguish various business organizations and identify the importance of Small Business in today’s economy.

5. Understand and analyze the role of Entrepreneurship in Small Business Development.

6. Explain the important aspects of Operations Management and Quality that affect business competitiveness.

7. Understand and analyze various Marketing Management programs.

8. Understand and analyze Accounting and Financial Management.

9. Understand the basic principles of Islamic business in Indonesia.

10. Having experience in doing real business/selling directly to real customers.

Basic Skills and Competence:

Muhammadiyah University of Yogyakarta, through this course, committed to preparing every student with the knowledge and skills necessary to succeed in a dynamic work environment in the future. Basic skills and competences have been designed into the curriculum for this course.

Skills:

Demonstrate Basic Skills - Reading, Writing, Arithmetic, Mathematics, Listening and Speaking.

Demonstrated ability Thinking - Creative, Decision-making, problem-solving, Seeing things through the eyes of the mind, Knowing how to learn, and Reasoning.

Demonstrate Personal Qualities - Responsibility, Self-esteem, Social, Self-management, Integrity / Honesty, and Competence.

Manage Resources - Allocate time, allocate money, facility resources, allocate human resources.

Interpersonal Skills - Participate as a team member, Giving feedback to others, Serving clients/customers, Leadership Training, Negotiates to arrive at a decision, Working with cultural diversity.

Managing information - Acquires and evaluates, Organize and maintain, interpret and communicate, and use computers to process..

Using the System and Technology - Understanding the system, monitor and improve performance, Improve, and system design, technology Choosing, Using Technology to carry out tasks, Troubleshooting.

Able to manage a small business.

Academic Honest/Scholarship Dishonesty:

Students are responsible to treat themselves with honor and integrity in fulfilling the requirements for completing the course.

"Scholastic Dishonesty" including, but not limited to, cheating when to take the test, plagiarism, and collusion.

Course Completion Requirements:

Students are considered to have been able/mastering courses if they have completed the assignment treatise completed 4 (four times) test competence in classroom/test and online / take home and raise questions and answers in a class discussion.
