Nutrition is an important part of safe patient care, although it is not always recognized as an ethical and patient safety issue. The most common types of incidents related to patient safety in nutrition care are provision of nutrition via artificial feeding, fasting, provision of nutrition via oral feeding, nutritional value assessment, discharge planning, and food hygiene and safety.
