THE Sixth Annual Course of Lectures in this Institution will commence on Monday, the 3d of November next, and continue until the first of the ensuing March. Th~ Commencement will be held early in March.
A Preliminary Course of Lectures, free to all students, will be given by the Professors, commencing on the first Monday of October. Five Lectures will be given daily, on subjects not fully discussed in the regular session.
The Anatomical Rooms will be opened for students on the first Monday of October, under the supervision of the Professor of Anatomy. The facilities for the study of practical Anatomy are not surpassed anywhere.
The ticket for Practical Anatomy is obligatory one session, and it entitles \ the holder to the privileges of the dissecting-rooms for two winters.
A Cliniqne has been established in connection with tho University, at which operations are performed, and cases prescribed for, and lectured upon, in the presence of the Class.
Candidates for the degree of Doctor of Medicine must have attained the ago of twenty-one years, and been engaged in the study of medicine three years. They must have attended two full courses of Lectures in a regular and accredited School of Medicine; the last of which must be in this Institution. They must write an acceptable Thesis, and deposit it with the Dean on or before the first day of February, on some Medical subject of their own selection. They must, at the time of receiving the degree, acknowledge the right of the Faculty to revoke it, if they engage in irregular or unprofessional practices.

6 ANNUAL ANNOUNCEMENT.
THE PREPARATORY OR SUMMER COURSE
of this department will commence on the first l\:Ionday in April next, and continue four months.
Special attention will be given to Practical and :Microscopic Anatomy, to Clinical Medicine and Surgery; and students will also .have access free of charge to the Lectures upon Geology and Natural History in the Colle- giate Department.
Daily Lectures, Examinations, and Demonstrations by the Professors.
Fee for the Course, $50.
SCHOOL FOR PRACTICAL CHEMISTRY.
A large Laboratory for Students has been fitted up and placed under the charge of a competent professor. It will be kept open throughout the year, and pupils received for any period longer than a month. The Fees for practical instruction "'ill vary with the time devoted to it and the nature of the course.
A Course of Instruction adapted to the wants of Medical Students will be given in this School, during the Spring and Summer Months, at a moderate charge.
Analysis of Minerals, Ores, Soils, Mineral-Waters, etc., etc., will be made at the· usual charges.

STUDENTS living within the precincts of the University are governed as a Military Corps, the officers and cadets being commissioned and supplied with arms by the State of Tennessee. There are ample and comfortable quarters for one hundred and fifty such students.
The course of study is the same as that pursued in the most reputable colleges, having reference mainly to proper intellectual training. Oppor- tunities will also be furnished to such persons as wish it, of pursuing fully
·the study of Practical Chemistry, Civil Engineering, the Modern Lan- guages, etc., upon the payment of extra fees.
The military system is adopted as an effectual means of preserving good order, regular habits, and due physical exercise.
There have been in attendance, during the present Academic year, 80 students from Tennessee; 23 from Louisiana; 19 from Mississippi; 9 from Alabama; 4 from Texas; 3 from Arkansas; 2 from Kentucky; 2 from Missouri; 1 from Illinois; 1 from Iowa; 1 from Ohio; 1 from New York; making 146 in all.
Of these, 25 are in the Preparatory Department, and 121 in the Col- lege proper.

EXPENSES.
Charge for Tuition, Boarding, Washing, Fuel, Rooms, Servants' Attend- ance, and use of Arms, Furniture, Towels, and Bedding-each Cadet to supply himself with candles, and one pair of good blankets-is $100 per term. Surgeon's Fee and Medicine, $5 per term.

Students rooming and boarding out of the College buildings, are required to pay, besides the Tuition, $7 50 per term for fuel, military instruction, and use of public rooms and arms.
Charges and fees must be paid semi-annually, in advance; and the receipt of the Treasurer presented to the Superintendent before the pupil can be assigned to Class.
Students are received at any time during the session, but no deduction of Tuition or Surgeon's Fee will be made for less than half a term. A student leaving the Institute from any cause, will be refunded the balance on deposit, including the balance on boarding; but Tuition and Surgeon's Fee will not be refunded except in cases of protracted illness or death.
