The students' interest in using Duolingo as a learning medium in speaking (A descriptive study at SMPN 1 Galesong Utara). Based on the findings, the researcher said that the students in SMPN 1 Galesong utara are "interested" in using Duolingo as their learning media. Therefore, the conclusion of the research is that the students in SMPN 1 Galesong Utara are interested in using Duolingo as their media to learn speaking.

As formulated in the research question above, the research aims to know the students' interest in using an application called Duolingo as their speaking learning medium, in SMPN 1 Galesong Utara. This research can facilitate students to learn English, especially in their speaking skills in a fun way that can save their time without sweating. This research will focus on the interest in using Duolingo as a learning medium for speaking, because more specifically, this research will emphasize the fluency based on the application that students gain.

The feature that can help the students is vocabulary, grammar, listening and speaking test along with its correction if there is a mistake that students make.

The indicator for this research was students' interest in using Duolingo software as their learning medium for speaking. Need was one of the conditions that can make someone forced to do something to get what they want. For example, students answer the question that the teacher gave them, students do their assignments and practice.

The researcher randomly used only 20 students using random sampling technique from two class. The purpose of doing this step was to get information and better understanding about how well the students know their learning. The researcher used a questionnaire with a Likert scale consisting of Strongly Agree (5), Agree (4), Partially Agree (3), Disagree (2) and Disagree (1) to get the data of the students.

Before asking the students to complete the questionnaire, the researcher explained the mechanism and procedures of filling the questionnaire. After the researcher uploads the questionnaire to the google form, he asks the teacher to share the link with his students so that the students can complete the questionnaire online. After collecting the data from the student questionnaire, the researcher can now analyze the data and move to the next step which is data analysis.

The data collection technique was by counting the student's questionnaire scores for each question. The criteria for students' interest in using duoling was the average score of the result, if the score is above 3.01, it means.

FINDING

From the above data, the researcher concludes that for the first point, 75% students give positive feedback and the rest of the article 75% students give positive feedback and the rest are between undecided and negative feedback where there are only feedback. 25% of students. From the above data the researcher could say that a conclusion for the second point is 70% of students who give positive feedback and the rest are undecided (30% students), without even a negative feedback. The researcher could draw a conclusion based on the above data that for the third point there is still a positive atmosphere, where 55% of the students give positive feedback, 30% of the students are not sure with what they have already chosen, and the rest . are negative reactions.

Based on the above data, the researcher can conclude that for the fourth point, only 50% of the students give positive comments, and the rest of them mostly cannot say what to choose. The researcher could draw a conclusion based on the above data that for the seventh point, the researcher can say that the students are mostly undecided about where they are because 35% students give positive feedback, 10% students give negative feedback and 55% of theirs are undecided. The researcher could draw a conclusion based on the above data that for the eighth item there is still a positive atmosphere, where 55% of the students give positive feedback, 30% of the students are not sure with what they have already chosen, and the rest . are negative reactions.

From the above data, the researcher could conclude that for the ninth item, 95% of students give positive feedback, while the rest are undecided (5% of students), without even a single negative feedback. From the above data, the researcher could conclude that at the eleventh point, 95% of the students give positive feedback, while the rest are unspecified (5% of the students), without even a single negative feedback. From the above data, the researcher could conclude that at the twelfth point, 80% of the students give positive feedback, while the rest are undecided (20% of the students), without a single negative feedback.

From the above data the researcher could say that a conclusion for point thirteen has 95% of students giving positive feedback and only one student has chosen undecided (5% students), without even a single negative feedback. Based on the above data, the researcher can conclude that for the fourteenth point, 70% of students give positive feedback, 25% of students are undecided and only one student gives negative feedback.

DISCUSSION

Based on the analysis of the questionnaire data, it turns out that the average score of students' interest in using Duolingo as a media in teaching speaking is 3.95, this shows that students have interest in the positive perception of using Duolingo as a media Theirs. in learning to speak. Based on the above result, it shows that students have given positive answers about how they use Duolingo to learn speaking. The student feels using the app or their smartphone as a learning media helps them in learning English, especially in speaking.

Through the teaching media they used, it makes the students who do not have much knowledge of the English language or speaking, this is ensured by the way the students answer the questionnaire statements. Cronje (2010) said that M-learning like Duolingo has a really big advantage that will make us learn faster in the efficient end than the normal or usual way can offer and it has to do with portability and accessibility. The data obtained from the questionnaire, the majority of students have had positive answers for their experience of use, it turns out that the average score of the students was 3.95 (positive).

Therefore, it can be concluded that most students of SMKN have a great interest (positive) about the use of Duolingo as learning media in speaking. The result of the researcher research also supported by Utami (2018) who said that learning with Duolingo will bring some joy to the students and motivate them to learn more and explore with the language they want to learn.
