Perception towards warning activities in English learning (an eighth grade descriptive study of SMP Ma'Had Miftahurrazaq Pinrang). Accompanied by Arief Paturusi and Wildhan Burhanuddin. The aim of this study was to find out the students' perception of warm-up activities when learning English at SMP Ma'Had Miftahurrazaq Pao. A purposive sampling technique was used where the researcher took one class of eighth grade students, which consisted of 15 students.

Which the questionnaire applied to know the rate percentage and frequency of students' perception warm-up activities in learning English process. This means that the use of warm-up activities is useful and has a positive effect on students. This means that they are motivated to learn because learning with warm-up activities can be interesting, practical, effective and fun, and warm-up activities were useful in their English learning process.

Therefore, she would like to thank them, which are: her beloved family, especially her parents, her sisters and her brother, for their patience and support for the research life. Warm-up activities create a positive learning environment in which students can participate comfortably in the lesson.

Warm-up activity does not help students if it is too difficult compared to their level of competence.

Therefore, warming up is an important preparation before learning English. According to the researcher's experience, some schools do not use warm-up activities in the process of learning English, the researcher finds that many students are not very interested in learning English. Several activities are used in the learning process, one of which is the warm-up.

Based on the background above, the question that became the problem was what the students' perception is regarding warm-up activities in the learning process of English. Based on the Problem Statement above, the objectives of the research were to know the students' perception regarding warm-up activities in learning English. For teachers, the teachers will know the importance as well as the type of warm-up activities in learning English process.

To simplify the research, the purpose of the research is to focus on what are the students' perceptions of warming up activities in the English learning process in the second grade of SMP Ma'had Miftahurrazaq Pinrang. The first similarity is the object of the research which is the use of the same activities that are warming up the activities. Warm-up activities are a short activity at the beginning of a lesson that helps students feel relaxed.

Christopher Cotter (2011) states that warm-up activities in lesson plans receive less attention than they should. It will not be the main part of the lesson, as a warm-up activity is a short activity. Warm-up can be used to allow students to revise previously studied language.

A short warm-up activity can build a relationship between students and learning materials Hasan and Akhand (2013). In the preparation phase, a warm-up exercise can act as an important factor to arouse students' interest to motivate them Jun (2000). Wisniewska (2012) also mentions that interest builds motivation and exploration to learn, develop broad knowledge and achieve skills and experience, starting a class with a warm-up activity is a good way to increase curiosity and interest among students and to motivate them to devote their attention to further activities to know more Zhu (2010). d.) Types of warm-up activities.

Warm-up activities are short activities at the beginning of the lesson that help students feel relaxed. However, it also has disadvantages. Through the students' perception of the use of warm-up activities in the learning process, the researcher will see if the use of warm-up activities is effective in the learning process.

Learning English Process

Activities have many advantages in the English learning process, such as increasing students' motivation, attention, vocabulary and so on.

This means that not all students agree with the statement, there are even some students who are undecided and do not agree, but most of the students strongly agree that warm-up activities help students to start thinking in English, review the class lesson of previous and take an interest in the class. .

This means that students do not agree with the statement, although a few students are undecided, but most students do not agree that the warm-up activities take a long time. This means that most students agree that warm-up activities can help them find new information. It means that most students strongly agree that warm-up activities promote good rapport and mutual trust between students and teachers.

This means that not all the students agree on the statement, even if there are some students who agree, that warm-up activities increase the students' motivation. This means that most of the students strongly agree that warm-up activities make them more active in class. This means that most of the students strongly agree that they are more interested if the teacher implements warm-up activities.

Warm-up activities create a positive learning environment for students to comfortably participate in class 8.
