New Email Security Features
In response to the significant increase in Phishing attacks that we (and many other institutions) have been encountering over the last year, ITS is implementing additional security measures through a product called Advanced Threat Protection (ATP). A few things you should understand about ATP...
ATP scans all email attachments to see if they might contain malware. If ATP detects malware, it will remove the attachment, and deliver the email to recipient. This feature works relatively well, but occasionally, ATP will remove a legitimate attachment. If you happen to receive a legitimate email that indicated an attached document (But, does not actually contain a document), please contact the ITS Helpdesk and we will retrieve the attachment for you. Something to note: Because ATP is testing each and every attachment; there may be a 5 minute delay in the delivery of emails that contain
attachments.
ATP "rewrites" URLS that appear to contain malicious links. The rewritten URL directs you to a Web page that tells you what ATP did and how you can reinstate a legitimate URL that was falsely identified as malicious.
As with any layer of threat protection, sometimes malicious emails get through. When it comes to social-engineering attacks such as malware and Phishing, your saavy instincts are an essential layer of deterrence. Please continue to be vigilant when receiving attachments and never input your username and password in a Web page that was sent via email. If something doesn't seem to be right, please take a moment and contact the ITS Helpdesk.
Fiat Lux!

Artist's Lecture by Kelcy Chase Folsom September 14, 2017
4:30 pm Nevins Theatre Cost: Free
Sponsored by: New York State College of Ceramics at Alfred University
This faculty lecture will be an overview of the professional practices and works of Ceramic Artist Kelcy Chase Folsom. He received his MFA in Ceramics from University of Colorado Boulder and his BFA from Georgia State University in Atlanta, Georgia. He has been a resident artist at numerous residencies including the Center for Ceramics in Berlin, Germany, The Hambidge Center in Rabun Gap, Georgia, and The Clay Studio in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. His work has been shown in over forty exhibitions nationwide. Folsom has taught at The George Washington University, The Corcoran College of Art and
Design, Maryland Institute College of Art, and University of the Arts. He is currently the Robert C.
Turner Teaching Fellow in Ceramic Art at the New York State College of Ceramics at Alfred University.
He lives and works in Alfred, New York.
Artist Statement:
My romantic life, at once tender and desperate, is the substance of my work. More specifically, I am interested in the ways that I project and receive desire (as Roland Barthes said, "I am devoured by desire, the impulse to be happy"), and negotiate my own relative experiences within it. This endless exchange between lovers - the absences, the expectations, the gravities, the intimacies, the small catastrophes - is the realm into which I want to invite viewers.

Alfred Ceramic Art Museum Exhibitions hereafter: Kelcy Chase Folsom; 2015 -2018 Robert Chapman Turner Teaching Fellow
Holding the Line: Ceramic Sculpture Stanley Rosen Minyao: Art of the Everyday
a Selection of Chinese Folk Pottery October 19, 2017 - January 1, 2018
Opening Reception: 6:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m., Thursday, October 19 Alfred Ceramic Art Museum
Cost: free
Sponsored by: Alfred Ceramic Art Museum
Three new exhibitions are opening simultaneously on October 19, 2017.
Holding the Line, ceramic sculptor Stanley Rosen's (MFA Alfred '56) retrospective is revelatory. Rosen has long been a quiet visionary. His little known work from the late 1950's, 1960's and 70's will astonish.
Concurrent with the Rosen exhibition the Museum is celebrating the break out career of Kelsey Chase Folsom. His thoughtful, poetic and often challenging work will be on view in the exhibition hereafter.
The Museum will also feature Minyao (peoples' pottery): The Art of the Everyday. Supported by a grant from the Asian Cultural Council-Rockefeller Foundation, the collection of work on view is the result of a concerted effort to honor and preserve a powerful, disappearing ceramic language of the Chinese people.
Museum hours are 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday; 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
Thursday; 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
