Camp Near Culpepper November the 17th 1863 Dear Wife I read your letter last night and was glad to hear from you but was sorry that you was so trubbled with Coaldes. I am well with the exception of sum Diarheah but I hope it willnot last me long and I hope these fiew lines will finde you all well. there was one Dollar in the letter and four stamps I got four stamps in one letter a fiew days ago the stamps came good and I can make use of the dollar but I was sorry that you sent the Dollar for I can get along better without it than you can. I hope that we will get our pay prety soon so that I can send you sum more money I tolde you when I wrote before that we were under marching orders [2]

the order was Countermanded and we are here yet but cannot tell how long we will stay here. I have a letter for R S Southworth that was maled at Menomenie Wisconsin I think it is from Esra I would send it to him but I doe not know where to Direct he may be in york State and he may be on his way down here I nevver learned how long a furlo he had. so you see I have no means of knoing where to direct to him. tell fathers folkes that Charles is well, I have not

got them gloves yet probaly they have not had time to cum through yet I have no war news to tell you

so I shall have to winde up prety short Catharine if you think best and can get enough for them two Coats that I sent home

to buy you a good Shall [shawl], I think that you had better sell them

and get the shall you aught to get enough for the two Coates to buy you a first rate good dubble Shall. doe as you like about it and I will be suited. I doe not kno as any body will want them but if I was in Allegany and was going to buy an over Coat I would give more for that over coat than I would for any new Citazens oaver Coat that I could get it is so furm that the wind cannot blo through it and the cape is a great help to keep a man warm a man can be out all day in a hard rain and it will not wet through. I have a new Cavalry over Coat but it is not near as good cloth as that one, it is made a little differant it is dubble brested and the cape is larger the cape cums clear down to my rists it is light blew like them pants that I sent home good night Daniel Hall to wife
