Stay Safe. Respond to Outdoor Warning Siren

Alfred State College has outdoor warning sirens. In the event of life-threatening emergencies, Alfred State will activate the outdoor warning siren.

Any emergency that causes ASC to soundits alarm also has the potential to affect people on our campus. If and when you hear the siren, you should immediately return to a known safe, indoor location. Information about the emergency, including instructions about what to do, will be

communicated via E2Campus . If possible, other methods will be used including WALF broadcasts and postings on entrance doors to academic and residence hall buildings.

If you have any questions, please contact the Office of Public Safety at 607-871-2108.

Carillon Recital Tuesday at 7

Janet Tebbel, carillonneur of the First United Methodist Church of Germantown, Philadelphia, PA, will be the second performer in the Wingate Summer Carillon Series. Tebbel has played recitals throughout North America and Europe.

This free recital starts at 7 p.m. and will include works by Beethoven, Bach, Gershwin, and Alan Mencken.

Tebbel began her carillon studies with R. Hudson Ladd at the University of Michigan and continued to play at the University of Rochester, NY while earning a master's degree at the Eastman School of Music. She spent a year at the Royal Carillon School in Mechelen, Belgium, studying with Piet van den Broek and holds a final diploma from the school.

The Wingate Memorial Carillon Recital Series honors Dr. Ray Winthrop Wingate (1886-1968), who was a professor of music at Alfred University for 56 years. After the installation of the bells in 1937, he was appointed the University carillonneur and continued in the position until his death.

The recital will be held rain or shine. Indoor seating will be available in Howell Hall in the event of rain.

The Merrill and Ray W. Wingate Memorial Carillon Foundation funds the series.

Goodie Bags/Giveaways for Incoming Students

The Orientation check-in team will be providing goodie bags again this year for our new students, which we give away at check-in day on Aug. 23. Students love these bags and it's a great way to get your office or area name out there.

If you'd like to contribute, plan on 650 of whatever you're ordering. Bags will be stuffed on Aug. 22 at 1 p.m. in McLane Center, and we request that you send someone to help stuff the bags.

Thank you.
