TYPE OF CHARACTER IN THE MAIN CHARACTER “CAMP ROCK 1”MOVIE

ABSTRAK
Penelitian ini tentang analisis karakter utama dalam Camp Rock 1 movie yaitu protagonis dan antagonis. Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh karakter, karena di dalam movie terdapat beberapa tokoh utama. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk meneliti tipe-tipe karakter yang terdapat pada kedua tokoh utama. Untuk mengetahui tipe-tipe karakter, peneliti meneliti karakter dari tokoh utama, kemudian mengelompokan berdasarkan tipe-tipe karakter. Penelitian dilakukan dengan menggunakan metode kualitatif (content analysis). Metode pengumpulan data yaitu menggunakan metode deskriptif dan pendekatan pragmatik. Instrument penelitian ini adalah peneliti itu sendiri. Data dalam penelitian ini berupa kata-kata, kalimat dan dialog yang berhubungan dengan tipe-tipe karakter. Sumber data dalam penelitian ini adalah naskah movie. Hasil dari penelitian ini adalah Protagonis sebagai Mitchie yang memiliki karakter pemalu, tidak jujur, menyenangkan, dan mudah terpengaruh.
Protagonis digolongkan pada tipe round dan stereotipe. Kemudian Antagonis sebagai Tess Tyler memiliki karakter egois, sombong, tidak jujur dan merasa selalu benar.
Antagonis digolongkan pada tipe round karakter karna di akhir movie ini dia menjadi orang yang baik. Penulis menyarankan pada pembaca dapat memberikan penilaia terhadap sebuak karya sastradengan persepsi dan interprestasi masing-masing, kemudian untuk terus memperhatikan pembelajaran tentang sastra agar dapat meningkatkan pengetahuan tentang sastra inggris

INTRODUCTION
Movie is a media to be the channel as a place for everything flows. Movie encompasses individual motion pictures;
the field of movie is produced by recording images from the world with
cameras, or by creating images using animation techniques or special effects.Watching movie is one of daily activity for some people. People have different purposes in watching such as for increase knowledge, study foreign
language, to understanding culture, and to entertain. The movie is a fictitious story which is one writing related literature. There are some basic element of fiction that is included theme of story, plot, character, and setting. In this research is how to analyze the literature one of them is analyze character.
Character is one of the elements that can not be separated and has an important role in a movie. Each character contained in the movie has been equipped with a unique character and different from other figures. A character often expressed through the actions provided for the viewer with clues about personality of character. In realistic a character in fiction is likely to be representative of a social class or race. A character can be divided into two namely the main character (major character)and the supporting character (minor character). The main character is a character appear in a story and then supporting character is a character only occasionally in the story. Main character is the preferred figure in a story.
The main character is the most widely told and widely present in every
event. But some people said that main character called the protagonist and other people said that main character more than one people. It means that not only protagonist who can call as main character but also other character like antagonist and foil. In this case, researchers want to analyze the main character in the Camp Rockmovie. The reason of researcher chooses this movie is because camp rock movie have an element of educations or morals, and this film is not has pornography. The researcher interested in this movie is because the main character in this movie do the actions that she likes to even fight against her opponent.
Every character that comes in the movie has been equipped with a unique character and different from other characters.According to Stanton in Nurgiantoro (2010:165) the term character is commonly used in design, the desire, emotion, and moral principle that make up each individual. Its mean that, character is the perpetrator of the story that appears in a work of narrative or drama that has a certain moral quality and tendency in speech and action.
Onyekalwhuchuku (2010:69) also clarified; characters are the representation of human beings in any fiction. The characters could be humans, animals or abstract qualities but exhibit human characteristics.
Based on definition above, it concludes that characters are the nature of the psychological nature, the behavior that distinguishes one from the other.Additionally character could be human, supernatural, mythical, animal or personification of an abstraction.
The main character is the figure who dominates the story. a character who is always associated with the presence of other figures. And the conversation in the story is always associated with it. According to Phillips&Huntley(2001:26) A Main Character is the player through whom the audience experiences the storyfirst hand. It’s mean that the main character in drama is the importan character in story because the story tell about his/her story life, and in movie always see them in the firts scene.
Then, Onyekalwhuchuku (2010:67) state that protagonist is usually the main
character or the hero/heroine. Its mean that protagonist is a main character. The main character or protagonist is not only at the center of the action, but also the chief object of the play the reader’s or audience’sconcern.
According to Altenbern &Lewis in Nurgiantoro (2010:176) The protagonist character is an admired character whose type is popularly referred to as hero - a figure who is the normative stewardship, value , that is ideal for us. It is mean that protagonist shown something based on our view, hope from the reader or viewer.
Mean while, Pickering and Hoeper in Famela (2010:14) explain protagonist is usually easy enough to identify: he or she is the essential character without whom there would be not in the first place. It is the protagonist’s fate (the conflict or problem being wrestled with) on which attention of the reader focused.
To sum up, protagonist is figure who have good character, this character can called as hero or heroine, the protagonist have goodness and have positive power in themselves, but the protagonist not always have a good
character sometimes this character can be have bad character, it is based on the author how describe it
The antagonist is the opposite character, because she/he is often the enemy that causes the conflict to occur.
The antagonist figures shouldallow for a fight, and the dispute must develop to a climax. The antagonist has a strong and contradictory character to the protagonist.
Onyekalwhuchuku(2010:67) state, in literal sense antagonist is someone who antagonizes. We will not take it in that literal sense. The character that stands constantly in opposition to the protagonist is the antagonist. He opposes the protagonist or is pitted against him/her in all cases and situations.
According to Gregson (2006:15) protagonist made to conform to one of character and who wins out in the end gains, it usually more central and who are sensitive and capable of love. It is mean thatthe protagonist has a loving, sensitive and most telling character in a story. This figure is usually wins against the evil.
Then, Helkson (2006:5) explain a protagonist who is the central focus of the story, this character play significant role in the work, brave person and struggles for insight.The protagonist whose center of stories often focuses on this character, the protagonist of someone who has a good personality and a brave person. In conclusion, the protagonist has a good character, full of love andaffection. This character has a tender of heart and sensitive. But the protagonist is a character who has a good personality, good thinking, courageous and responsible. That is why the protagonist is called as hero.
According to Hellkson (2006:5) antagonist the opposing force, it does not always have to be a person, the protagonist a elfish person and notably lacking heroic qualities. The antagonist lacks of personality. This character has a fairly high ego and always trying to realize an evil plan. Then, Gregson (2006:20) state that antagonist fore against to the protagonist, this character usually describe as bed guy, bed feeling, and person against self. The antagonist is a character who always contradicts the
protagonist. This figure reflects the unfavorable character and sly mind to thwart the opponent's plans.
In conclusion, an antagonist is the opposite of a protagonist with a high, emotional ego, to thwart his opponent's plans for success. This figure also has a strong and courageous personality. But, this character actually has a good heart only be defeated by a sense of ego and emotional that cause hatred, pride and envy.
According to Onyekalwhuchuku (2010:68)there are different types of characters and the author decides the ones to use depending on the message and the effect she/he desires to create.
First, Flat Characters. The flat characters are those characters who remainthe same in the course of the story from the beginning to the end. They do not undergo significant changes during the course of a story. Second, Round character. Round characters are those characters that grow in the course of the narration. Most of the time, they grow from innocence to maturity and adapt to situations accordingly.
Third, Stereotype are the judgment of a person only on the basis of the perception of the group in which the person can be categorized. The stereotype is an intuitive shortcut of thought by humans to simplify complex matters and assist in rapid decision- making. Fourth, Allegorical Characters.
Allegorical characters are characters that are not human beings. Such characters are employed and manipulated by the writer to convey a double meaning of the subject matter at the literal level and a deeper level.
RESEARCH METHOD
This research represented is a qualitative research. This research was a kind of qualitative research that design in content analysis. According to Mayring (2000) the object of (qualitative) content analysis can be all sort of record communication (transcripts of interview, discourses, protocols of observations, video tapes, document). This research used descriptive methode. According to Ratna (2010:53) method of descriptive analysis is done to describe facts which
followed by analysis. And used pragmatic approach based on Ratna’s theory in her book (2010:71) state that, in considers indicators of literary work and reader, the problems can be solved through a pragmatic approach, such as various responses of society toward a literary work as explicit or implicit readers, and in synchronous or diachronic terms.
FINDINGS AND DISCUSSION This research was conducted about type of character in the main character.
Total type of character based on onyekalwhucuku (2010) is four types.
The researcher found two types of character in 20datum/event. Based on analysis above, it was answered about the research questions in this research. In the result, it could be concluded that type of character in the main character in Camp Rock 1 movie with datum/event or clarifying of usages and references because it could be seen in process of data collaction with used descriptive methode, pragmatic approach and Dramatic technique.
In this research, the researcher found that Mitchie’s character as protagonist from datum 1 until 5 is timid person, dishonest , kind person, and easily influenced and Tess character as Antagonist from datum 6 until 11 is selfish, arrogant, grudge, dishonest, and felt always right.Types of characters in the main character in Camp Rock 1 movie besed on onyekalwuchuku (2010) theory, there were four types of character based on datum/eventin Camp Rock 1 movie. The researcher found two types of chacarter that is Round and stereotype character.
The result of this research is the researcher declare protagonist as Mitchie which has round character and stereotype , that protagonist has round type that is different from Mitchie character and has resistance to her opponent because she cannot wait for the attitude of her opponent, and she is categorized in stereotype type because in datum 20 it appears that mitchie said that the girl group likes shane and that is a judgment, which is based on stereotype theory that is judgment of someone.
Then Antagonist as Tess Tyler has a
round character, Tess who was originally a good person but because of selfishness and irritation she made Mitchie cannot appear in the final Jam as a competition. But in the end Tess was aware of her actions and apologized to her friends.
CONCLUSION
In this research, analisis about types of character that had from in the main character. After analyzing Camp Rock 1 movie, the writer concludes that the Protagonist is Mitchie and the Antagonist is Tess Tyler In the movie, Mitchie is young girl who cheerful and friendly, but she lies to her friends and said that her mother work in Hot Tune Tv china and finally her liealso known by Caitlyn and the end she amid her lieaand she spend her summer although she did not participation on final jam that cause from Tess Tyler.
Tess Tyler is child from a famous singer TJ Tyler, she is actually a fun girl but because of her arrogance, felt always right until humiliate others, lie until damage someone, finally she leave by her friends and she realize her fault and
ask forgiveness to them. The researcher found the types of character in this movie are Round chraracter and Stereotype character, the protagonist is round and steroetype characters, then antagonist is round.
