Tidak diragukan lagi bahwa pendidikan sangat dibutuhkan setiap manusia.
Pendidikan memegang peranan yang sangat penting dalam berbagai bidang kehidupan. Manfaat dari pendidikan akan berpengaruh terhadap manusia dalam jangka panjang. Menyikapi semakin tingginya kebutuhan pendidikan, banyak bermunculan perguruan tinggi swasta mendirikan tingkat pendidikan pascasarjana yang menyediakan fasilitas pendidikan dengan berbagai kualitas untuk menarik perhatian para sarjana. Namun fasilitas saja tidak cukup untuk menarik minat masyarakat, hal yang terpenting adalah kredibilitas para pengajar yang akan menyampaikan ilmunya kepada kita. Dalam proses komunikasi seorang komunikator akan sukses apabila ia berhasil menunjukan source credibility.
Artinya menjadi sumber kepercayaan bagi komunikan. Begitupun dengan dosen pascasarjana, harus memiliki kredibilitas yang tinggi untuk menunjang keberhasilan proses mengajar dan menghasilkan lulusan yang berkualitas.
Kredibilitas pengajar akan mempengaruhi minat masyarakat dalam memilih kampus pascasarjana yang sesuai dengan keinginannya.
Penelitian ini berjudul Hubungan Antara Kredibilitas Dosen Dengan Minat Mahasiswa Untuk Melanjutkan Studi S-2. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui hubungan antara kompetensi, karakter dan karisma dosen program studi ilmu komunikasi pasca sarjana dengan minat mahasiswa Fikom Unisba angkatan 2009 untuk melanjutkan studi S-2. Teori yang digunakan adalah teori S – R dan teori kredibilitas dari Joseph A. Devito.
Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah korelasional dan menggunakan uji statistic Rank spearman. Jumlah mahasiswa Fikom angkatan 2009 sebanyak 312 orang dengan menggunakan teknik strata disproposional sehingga sampel menjadi 63 orang. Teknik penarikan sampel menggunakan strata disproporsional, yaitu teknik dimana setiap strata di ambil sampel yang sama.
Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan adalah angket, wawancara, dan studi kepustakaan.
Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa terdapat hubungan antara kompetensi dan karisma dosen dengan minat. Serta tidak ada hubungan antara karakter dosen dengan minat. Saran dari peneliti agar karakter dosen yang meliputi memperlakukan mahasiswa dengan adil dan perhatian pada mahasiswa lebih ditingkatkan.

ii ABSTRACT
Undoubtly, education is needed for everyone. Education tooks a very important role in various aspects of life. The advantages of education will affect humans in the long run. Responding to the higher education needs, many emerging private university established post graduate program that provides facilities with various qualitity to attract bachelor’s attention. The facility alone is not enough to attract bachelor because what really attract the them most is the credibility of the lecturer who will teach and share the knowledge.
In communication process, a communicator will succed when he managed to show his credibility source. That will be a source of confidence for the communicant.
Likewise with the lecturer of post graduate program, they must have high credibility to make the process of teaching succeed and to produce high quality students. Credibility of lecturer will affect the public interest in choosing post graduate university based on their needs.
The title of this research is The Relationship Between Lecturer Credibility and The Bachelor’s Interest to Continue Study in Post Graduate Program. The purpose of this research was to determine the relationship between competence , character and charisma of the lecturer of communication sciences program with the interest of student of Fikom Unisba class of 2009 to continue the study. The theory used is the theory of S - R and theoretical credibility of Joseph A. DeVito.
The number of students of Fikom Class of 2009 as many as 312 students, and this research used stratum disproportionate technique so the sample will be 63 students. The sampling technique used stratum disproportionate, which is a technique in which each stratum will be taken the same samples. Data collection techniques used questionnaires , interviews , and literature study .
The results showed that there is a relationship between competence and charisma of lecturer with the interest of the bachelor. And there is no relationship between lecturer’s character with the interest. The researcher advised that the lecturer should have a character that will treat the student fairly and to care more about the student
