The book has highlights of Indian companies’ examples like Himalaya, Big Bazaar, Cry Bajaj, Britannia, Arvind eye etc which makes it more interesting for students and marketers. The book is easy to understand. The utility of the book can be increased fur- ther by adding test questions in the form of MCQ and short type at the end of chapter. Also Question Papers of previous years will further increase the utility of book. Overall this book is a great attempt to explain marketing concepts to all.

Review

There are many self-help books. Quite a few of them sound like sermons. They enumerate success principles, but the readers find it difficult to apply them in their life. Instead of being theoreti- cal, this book describes the real life situations, in which common people actually applied the success principles in their life, and achieved what is considered impossible by many! Going through the pages of ‘Real Inspiring Success Stories,’ will urge you to recharge yourself, gather confidence, and dare to do what you were hesitant to do earlier. The heroes of these real success sto- ries are common people like you and me, who struggled against all odds- social, financial, physical or emotional, and emerged winners because of their indomitable spirits. They followed their dreams passionately and turned obstacles into stepping stones in their journey of success. You never know your success story may be featured in one of the subsequent seasons!

A reading of the newspapers, viewing of the electronic media leaves one with a feeling of unease, a kind of mental unrest at what appears to have happened to us as a people. Corruption, bad government, lawlessness, streets unsafe for women, mani- fest injustice, crime, poverty, and hungry children-that is the picture of India, that we have painted and, like a self-inflicted wound, have exhibited it to the world. Is that a reality? Is India

to plumb more depths of depravity and distress? Or is there another India bright with hope?

Major Pradeep Khare has kindled precisely that ray of hope, which reminds us that there is a real, a larger, more focussed India than what the media presents. He has given us sixty five true stories, or vignettes of life, the material for which has been collected through painstaking research. They are totally gender unbiased tales, because they highlight the achievements of men and women, boys and girls. They are also socially unbiased, ranging from the very moving story of a child brought up in a brothel, and her successful struggle to escape from this stigma and to educate herself, to very ordinary people who crafted suc- cess stories, and all the way up to senior bureaucrats and people who achieved success in business. The coverage is catholic in spread.

This land, this India, is a land of opportunity, even more so than it is of despair. A girl of fifteen who in spite of being a victim of gang rape, takes on sex trafficking gangs, a lady who renounces prostitution and transforms herself to a noble soul, a very successful woman’s self-help group in Jharkhand, a woman who though herself poor, dedicated her lifetime savings to setting up a hospital, are some of the narrations of what grit and hard work can achieve. Excellence in sport, success in academics by those who come from a background of poverty and hardship, people (Date of Acceptance: 12-01-2015; Plagiarism Check Date: 22-01-2015; Peer Reviewed by Three editors blindly: 31-01-2015;

who act as” vaishnavajana” by dedicating themselves to others, entrepreneurs who used innate skill, intelligence and hard work to build successful enterprises, though they themselves started from poverty, the physically handicapped who overcame their disability, the environmentalists, the repentant sinner, all have been covered.

Many good and worthwhile things are happening in society, but they are not highlighted by the media. In spite of all this, our youth are doing exceptionally well in examinations and setting new records in sports. People are doing selfless service for soci- ety, helping others and making this world a better place. People going beyond the call of duty, women winning new frontiers, differently able people achieving what able bodied people can’t dream of, first generation business persons having turnover of crores. These shining stars have scripted their success story by sheer grit, perseverance and determination to win over all odds.

The strength of these success stories lies in the fact that they are all real. Photographs have been included in each story to authenticate it. They have bloomed in various cites of India and even abroad. The heroes of these success stories are common people like you and me, who struggled against all odds social, financial, physical, emotional and emerged winners because of their indomitable spirits. They followed their dreams passion- ately and turned obstacles into stepping stones in their journey

of success. They believed in themselves and dared to tread the unbeaten path. Most people try to change others, but the heroes of these success stories used all their will power to change themselves. This spark of self-transformation will inspire many others on the threshold of change.

What these stories tell us is that the human spirit cannot be broken, if there is a will. These sixty five stories tell us how noth- ing is impossible for those who dare, and that together we can forge an India which is unbeatable. Going through the pages of “Real Inspiring Stories” will urge you to recharge yourself, gather confidence, and dare to do, what you were hesitant to do earlier.
