RC (AE)/30/2011/ Bulletin/December’2016/77 Dated: 30/12/2016
Groundnut Harvesting stage Start harvesting the plant when the bottom leaves shed, top leaves & stem turn yellow and 70–80% of the pods start yellowing.
Harvesting can be done either by hand pulling of the plants from bottom if there is adequate moisture or by digging with spade.
Stack the plants in inverted position and dry in sun for 3 – 4 days to bring down the moisture content to 7-8% for safe storage.
Clean the dry pod and store in gunny bags
Soyabean Harvesting Yellowing of pods and dropping of leaves in
soyabean indicates maturity. Farmers are advised to harvest their crop if 95 % of the pods become yellow and the moisture content of the seeds during harvesting should be 14- 15 %.
After harvesting, dry the crop for 3 days and undertake threshing.
