"Merit Scholarship Scheme for economically poor undergraduate student at Anand Agricitural University"
1: Introduction
The Anand Agricultural University is committed to the task of development of Agriculture through teaching, research and extension education activities in Gujarat State. The rural development of Agriculture Sector heavily depends on the development of rural and their contribution for it. The University has been receiving in general large number of students for admission in all the faculties. To attract the poor bright meritorious students to take admission in various Under-Graduate faculties of this Unix ersity, it has become necessary to award scholarship to them, so that on completion of their studies they can join the University as well as government sector and help in the rural development of Agriculture Sector. Hence, it is necessary to encourage
• poor meritorious under graduate students looting to the income of their parents to join studies in agricultural and allied courses.
2: Objective
To attract and encourage meritorious lx t economically poor students; to take up educational degree programme of Agricultural Sciences, this proposed scheme for providing scholarship is necessary. This will help in to meet the expenditure towards the education at under graduate programme offered at AAU.
3: Criterion for the award of merit Sd olarship
3.1 The University shall annually award Iv erit Scholarship for economically poor meritorious Under-Graduate students in all the col :ges of Anand Agricultural University.
• 3.2 The value of Fellowship will be Rs.30Ic0/- per month per student.
3.3 Merit Scholarship shall be awarded to the 04 (Four) students in each College every year in a manner given below to introduce the element of academic competition.
1. The family income of the stuc :nt should not exceed 8.00 lakh per year and fresh certificate from the competent authority (Mamlatdar/TDO) as proof of income should be produced.
2. The candidate will be selected on the merit basis from among eligible candidates (family income less than 6.0 IdICh) which will be decided as below.
P.T.O.
i. For the first year of study, the merit will be decided based on the admission merit percentage criteria for the particular college.
ii. From second academic year (12 months for each year of study or less duration) onwards the scholarship shall be awarded on merit basis of previous academic year's/annual board's performance.
iii. From second year/annual board onwards the eligibility of the student for award of scholarship shall be based on CGPA. Candidates securing less than 6.00/10.00 shall not be eligible to apply.
iv. The student should not avail any other Scholarship/Fellowship and undertaking for the same will be required to be produced every year.
3.4 A college level committee is to be constituted by the Principal of the college who will finalize eligible students considering the above criteria for the said scholarship and will be submitted to the Office of Director Students' Welfare for award of scholarship.
3.5 The maximum duration of the Scholarship will not be more than as per the prescribed duration (on total period) of graduation programme (including semester end brakes and vacation).
3.6 The Scholarship will be paid to the selected candidate twice in a year by the Principal of the concerned College on the production of progress certificate.
3.7 The awardee under this scheme will not be allowed to receive any other regular Scholarship/Fellowship. In case, the awardee is in receipt of any such, the same must surrender and the benefit of the scholarship will be given only from the month of surrender of such Scholarship.
4: If an awardee is placed on conduct probation and/or fails to meet prescribed attendance in a particular semester the scholarship shall cease.
5: Payment of scholarship
The payment of scholarship to an awardee will start from the date of joining the college.
