DETAILS OF ADVISORIES FOR THE PERIOD

Crop Stage Pest/Disease Precautionary Practices to be followed

FIELD CROPS Rice (normal sown)

Nursery/

Transplantation

Yellow Stem borer

Rice Blast may occur in the nursery bed. Temperature above 30oC with humidity over 80 percent is highly favourable for the disease. Over use of nitrogen aggravates the disease. To manage the attacks apply Carbendazim+ Mancozeb @ 2.5gm per liter of water into the seedbed.

 Field sanitation along with removal of hosts and infected debris from the field also would be helpful to manage the attack.

Maize (Kharif) Sowing  Complete the sowing. Sowing must be completed by first fortnight of July.

 Harvest mature crops HORTICULTURAL CROPS

Citrus Flowering/fruiti ng

Trunk borer/

stem borer

Proper monitoring should be done for trunk borers. Collect and destroy them wherever feasible and inject petrol or nuvan into the holes and plug the holes with mud.

Guava Flowering  Dispose off dropped fruit properly by digging up,

 Water stagnation should be avoided,

 Smoking on a clear evening will repel the insect pests LIVESTOCKS

Livestock Stage Disease Precautionary Practices to be followed Cattle/Mithun/

goat

All stages External parasite  Vaccination schedule must be strictly followed during the season. Animal may be vaccinated to protect from the diseases like FMD, HS, BQ of Cattle, FMD, PPR for Goat.

Poultry Chicks  Vaccination against RD(F1) at 4-6 days old chicks followed by booster dose after one month

Pig All stages  Iron injection is advocated to prevent animal from skin

diseases and piglet anemia.

 Vaccination or deworming must be done in the registered veterinary centre or under supervision of Veterinary practitioner
