CVM was established in the year 1945 by Shri Bhaikaka and Shri Bhikhubhai as a charitable trust with a prime objective of rural development through education to bring about the social awakening, social upliftment, and enrichment. Over the subsequent years, Dr. H M Patel (the first finance minister of India) consolidated the eff orts put in by the founders. Later on, in t he 1990s. In 1994, Dr. C L Patel took over the reigns of CVM as the chairman, and through his dynamic leadership, missionary zeal and visionary outlook. CVM rejuvenated the ongoing education system but added a modern education campus at New Vallabh Vidyanagar Recently, Er.
Bhikhubhai Patel took a charge. He is a visionary personality with a goal to enhance the quality of education using recent technological advancements. It runs 48 institutions from KG to Post Doctorate, almost in all branches of education and catering more than 50, 000 students from 21 states and 12 countries across the world.
Birla Vishvakarma Mahavidyalaya Engineering College was established in 1948 from donations made by the Birla Education Trust on the behest of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, the first Home Minister of independent India. Functioning under the umbrella of Charutar Vidya Mandal (CVM), BVM is the first engineering college of Gujarat state established way back in 1948. BVM is the first Autonomous Engineering institute of Gujarat to obtain academic autonomy for all its UG
& PG programs, by University Grant Commission (UGC). More than 20000+ engineers have graduated from BVM College engaged in varieties of field across the globe. Institute offers 08 B.Tech and 08 M.Tech degree courses. The college is affiliated to the Gujarat Technological University. It is a matter of pride, that the Institute has successfully completed prestigious World Bank Assistance Project, TEQIP-II of INR 10 crores and further has been continuing with TEQIP-III grant of INR 7 crores. Majority programs of BVM are awarded accreditation by NBA-AICTE.

The department is equipped with advanced instruments and equipment for research facilities. Experts from leading industries and educational institutes are invited frequently for guest lectures on recent developments for the benefit of students and staff. The department is deeply involved in Testing and consultancy work besides quality research.
The Institution of Engineers (India) [IEI] is a statutory body to promote and advance the engineering and technology, established in 1920 and incorporated by Royal Charter in 1935. The IEI has its headquarters located in Kolkata with national presence through more than hundred Centres and several Overseas Chapters, Foras and Organ. The aims and objectives of IE (I) (Students branch) are to promote the general advancement of engineering and their applications. To facilitate exchange of information and ideas on those subjects, amongst the members and to person attached to the institution. The service rendered by student chapter of IEI is primarily through a variety of technical activities and functions.

IE(I) STUDENTS’ CHAPTER – CIVIL had organized a TECHNICAL TOUR TO CONSTRUCTION MATERIALS AND MACHINERY EXPO 2019 by GUJARAT CONTRACTORS ASSOCIATION- VIBRANT GUJARAT SUMMIT on 23rd June 2019, Sunday for the 2nd and 3rd as well as final year students of BVM ENGINEERING COLLEGE and it was sponsored by TEQIP-III.
Vibrant Summit 2019 was going to take place at Conventional Hall, Gujarat University Convention and Exhibition Centre, Ahmadabad. To reach there, a bus was arranged and around 55 students along with our HOD Dr. L.B. ZALA sir, Prof. AMIT BHAVSAR sir and Prof. NEKZAD UMRIGAR sir were on the trip. Everyone had to report to BVM auditorium sharp at 6.30 am, there breakfast was provided and then at 7.30 am we began our journey to Ahmadabad.

Before visiting the Expo, we went to the Sabarmati Ashram also known as Satyagraha Ashram which was set up in 1915 by Mahatma Gandhi on the banks of River Sabarmati on returning from South Africa. The Ashram which houses a museum, Gandhi Smarak Sangrahalay is divided into five units
— office, library, two photo galleries and an auditorium. It also has a large open prayer ground. It is a treasure trove, having the largest number of original manuscripts of Gandhiji's letters and articles. The

museum has eight life-size color oil paintings and an exhibition on Gandhiji's life titled “My life is my message” and “Gandhiji in Ahmedabad”. After witnessing glimpses of Gandhiji’s thundering journey and the auspicious vibes of that place, we departed around at 11 am to visit the Expo.

We reached at the venue of expo at around 11:30am. First we attended the award ceremony organized by GCA. Deputy Chief Minister of Gujarat, Nitin Patel along with the minister of state in the Union government for Shipping, chemicals and fertilizers, Mansukh Mandaviya, was present at the inaugural ceremony of the event. Where in awards across some 30 categories were given away in construction sector under Crisis rating agency. Some 2,000 delegates in addition to more than 5,000 contractors were expected to be part of that event.
After the award ceremony and lunch, we went to the construction materials and machinery expo.
There were number of construction equipment with huge advancement for more efficient and facilitate construction work. Moreover, other advancements in construction sector such as epoxy coated reinforcements, chemicals used to prevent percolation or absorption of water in sand and aggregates, bitumen emulsions, micro surfacing etc. were also showcased.
The main focus of this expo was on equipment used in road construction works. Giant machineries and equipment were exhibited by the manufacturing companies including CASE, JCB, VOLVO, L&T, MARINI, WIRTGEN, AMMANN and SCHWING STETTER. We had great interaction with them about the advancement in the equipment and how it can help to build rapidly as well as impeccably in this era of tremendous infrastructure development.
The information about capacity of compaction, energy consumption, different attachments in excavator, maximum covering width of paver, advantages of using epoxy coated reinforcement, cost- ratio, and effects of using chemicals in soils etc. was given by them. We were informed and guided more about this equipment for our field by our faculty.
Mainly , equipment in road construction such as Paving equipment, Grader , Road roller, Crawler Excavator , Loader, Stationary Asphalt Road Equipment , Plate compactors etc. were put there for more detailed information and better visuals.

As civil engineers, it was a groundbreaking experience for us to get a chance to visit such a mesmerizing expo before entering the field web. We got to know about the enhancement of construction technology and advance construction equipment which we will be dealing with in the field as this Expo strived to provide technical knowledge directly from manufacturers. This Expo included world class manufacturers with their latest inventions under one roof for the first time in Gujarat.
Finally, after checking out all this things, we gathered back to reach college. It was a wonderful experience to visit this platform which enriches the knowledge to the society. As an engineer, we gained knowledge from there about advancement in our field. As a student, we carried back all the joy and mercurial memories with a happy face. As a habitant of Gujarat, we felt proud to see the development in Gujarat. Yes, Gujarat is going more VERSATILE, Gujarat is going more VIABLE, Gujarat is going more VIBRANT.
IE (I) STUDENTS’ CHAPTER – CIVIL had organized a visit of National conference on, “Restoration &
Maintenance of Structures & Water Bodies for Sustainability” And 35th National Convection of civil engineers (NCCE-2019) on 1st September 2019, Sunday for the 2nd, 3rd& 4th year students of BVM ENGINEERING COLLEGE and it was sponsored by TEQUIP-III.
A bus was arranged and around 43 students with our prof. Nekzad Umrigar sir and prof. Jignesh Brambhatt sir were on the trip. Everyone had to report to BVM auditorium sharp at 6.45 am.
Around 9:15 am we reached at Bhaikaka Bhavan, Law Garden, Elis Bridge, Ahmedabad. From 9:30 to 11:30 we had registration and welcome tea. Then at 11:30 am there were an inaugural session.
After an inauguration, at 11:35 am there was presentation on Future of civil engineering by Prof. Amit Prashant, Professor of Indian Institution of Technology, Gandhinagar. Then at 11:45 am we had a Dr.
Jai Krishna Memorial Lecture by Dr. Anupam K Singh, Director of INDUS University, Ahmadabad on
“Greening Strategies for Restoration, Renovation of Water Bodies for Sustainability. Then at 12:00 am we had the State of Art Lecture By Dr.S.R.Gandhi, Director of SVNIT, Surat.

After the tea break of 12:15 to 12:30 am there was Keynote Lecture-1 on, “River Front Protection Work around Statue of Unity” By Er. Saurabh Vyas, Head Technical Services, Tech Feb India Industries Ltd., Vadodara. Then after this lecture at 12:45 another Keynote Lecture -2 By Er.
Ashokkumar Basa, Past President of Institution of Engineers (India).Then at 1:00 pm there were the Presentation of PE/INTPE/ Young Engineers Award winners. Our Principal Dr. Indrajit Patel sir felicitated by Eminent Engineering Personality award by the Institution of Engineers (India).
After the lunch break of 1:45 to 2:45 pm we had a Technical Section-1 on Restoration and
Maintenance of Structures. There were 8 Engineers present their presentations on it. Then another tea break of 15 minutes held. Then at 4:00 pm there were a last Technical Session-2 held. In this session there are 10 engineers present their presentations on the topic.
Then finally at 5:15 pm we leave the Bhaikaka Bhavan Auditorium and at 7:00 pm we reached at BVM College, Vallabh Vidhyanagar.

IE(I) Students’ Chapter - Civil had organized orientation program in BVM Engineering College on 5th September 2019, 5pm at BVM auditorium.
The auditorium was almost full by students. Our Principal Dr. Indrajit Patel, Head of Civil Department Dr. L.B Zala, Dr. A. K. Verma, Prof. A. N. Bhavsar and our General Secretary Tarun Nagar and Ladies Representative Saloni Gajjar were present. Er. Mehul Patel, Alumni of BVM college, Training Co-ordinator and retired Deputy Executive Engineer of Walmi, Anand was invited as our chief guest.
Program was started by lightning of lamp and it was followed by a prayer song by 2nd and 3rd year students.
The dignitaries on the dias were welcomed by bouquet, after that a speech was given by Principal Dr.Indrajit Patel about the various facilities provided by BVM and some information about BVM funds and assured the students to fulfil their needs for speakers. Head of department, Dr. L.B. Zala expressed admiration for the new selected chairman and secretary and whole IE(I) team (2019-20) through his speech, Dr. A.K Verma in his speech emphasized that the success in any aspect of life is enacted by working from the bottom of the heart, Prof. A N Bhavsar accentuated on team work and responsibilities in his speech.
A video of glimpse was shown off, all the events and tech. tours conducted by IE(I)-CIVIL STUDENTS’ CHAPTER in the last year (2018-2019) and a brief introduction of IE(I) committee members and faculties. Finally comes the most awaited part of the program addressing of the members of IE(I)-CIVIL STUDENTS’ CHAPTER (Team advisory, Team Publicity, Team Documentation, Team Graphics, Team Logistics, Team Tech & Tour) core committee 2019-2020 where firstly Er.Mehul Patel gave badge to Mr.ShubhamBabariya as Chairman of IE(I)-CIVIL and Dr.L B Zala to Mr.NayanPansuriya as Secretary of IE(I)-CIVIL and all the other members were announced to come on the stage and a group photo was taken.Chief guest Er. IE(I) Orientation Program Report 2019-20
students about his work experiences, gave a brief about water management engineering and its growing demand in the next few years and its utmost importance in the near future. Vote of thanks was given to our chief guest, which marked the end of the orientation program at 6pm. Then dinner was organised for all the civil students and the orientation program was completed successfully.

The seminar was organized on 6 July 2019 at 10:30 am in BVM Auditorium by Dr. H.J. Chauhan (GATE Coordinator, BVM), GATE Team BVM & TEQIP-3 team to create awareness and preparation regarding GATE Exams at respective departments, its importance in getting a good college for pursuing masters and also for getting a secured Job in PSU(s).
Total of 120 students from 2nd, 3rd and 4th year of various departments – Civil, Mechanical, Production, Electrical, Computer Programming, IT, EC and Electronics Engineering along with their department coordinators actively took part in the seminar and gained knowledge about the same.
The seminar started with host welcoming the Chief-Guest Mrs. Sejal Christian (Owner - GATE Forum, V.V. Nagar and Vadodara) and their team. Dr. Indrajit Patel (Principal, BVM), Dr.S.D.Dhiman (TEQIP- III coordinator) and Dr. H.J. Chauhan along with Mrs. Sejal took their seats on the dias.
Dr.Indrajit Patel felicitated the Chief-Guest. Dr.H.J.Chauhan also gave a floral welcome to Dr.Indrajit Patel and Dr.S.D.Dhiman.
Ms.Sejal Christian gave a brief about what GATE is and about its importance. She also told an inspiring story of Dhirubhai Ambani and his sons with the moral of importance of hard work in getting successful in life.

After that Dr.S.D.Dhiman gave a brief about TEQIP-III and about various activities done under the banner of TEQIP and how TEQIP helps in organizing various seminar and guest lectures. He also told about the facility of starting In-House GATE classes.
Dr.Indrajit Patel addressed the gathering and encouraged and motivated students to take part in various activities/events that college organizes for them and also about the rich resources BVM College has in heritage due to Alumni.

After the awareness seminar regarding GATE, its importance in getting a good college for pursuing masters and also for getting a secured Job in PSU(s) continued in auditorium for all branch students of 2nd year.
Students of 3rd& 4th year of Civil Department gathered in the civil seminar hall at 11:30 am for having the guidance of preparation techniques and method to adopt in order to have a successful future.
Total of 53 students along with the departmental GATE coordinator Prof. Nekzad Umrigar attended the seminar and gained knowledge about the same.
The seminar started with host welcoming the speaker Mr A.K.Singh. He has done masters in Structural Engineering and has been achieving promising AIR since last 4 years. He also had 12+
PSU selections and is currently one of the core faculties of GATE Forum.

Dr.L.B.Zala shared his thoughts with the students and requested students to take the benefit of In- House GATE classes and wished them for their successful future.
Mr A.K.Singh took over the seminar. He told about the procedure for preparing for GATE exams. He emphasized on the fact of having a clear goal of what one wants to do after qualifying GATE exam so that they could have realistic goals in their mind and can strive same direction. He also weighed on building basic theoretical concepts to solve the trickiest of problem. He informed us about various other exams similar to GATE which can lend us a good job and also about various PSU(s).

IE(I) Students’ Chapter – Civil had organized water seminar for students of 1st ,2nd ,3rd & 4th year of BVM Engg. College on 7th September, 2019.The seminar was started at 10:30 AM. The experts of this seminar were Er. Mehul Patel, Er. Deepak Shah and Er. Vijay Solanki.
Firstly Dr. L.B. Zala, Head of Civil department welcomed all and said few words about the seminar.
After that, in first hour of seminar, Er.Mehul Patel gave information on topic of importance of water, water problem in current time, world water distribution, and water scenario in Gujarat etc.

In last part of seminar, Er. Vijay Solanki showed a short video about importance of water and how to manage water and gave awareness on water management.

Round 2: All team were taken for round 2. In this round participants were supposed to solve clues which were related to the concept and basics of civil.
Round 3: Out of 10 teams top 8 teams were selected for round 3. In this round Problem statement were given to the participants and they have to give a proper solution. Problem statement was
"After the recent ban on single used plastics by our Prime Minister, what you think can be or should be the alternate use of these used plastics already existing in waste lands." We had Dr.Reshma L.

Objective: To improve the thinking ability and also practical applicability of theoretical concepts.
Description: There were two participants in a team. There were also participants who had solo entry.
The event fee was Rs. 40/Team. We expected a total of 50 entries.
Round 1: Participants have to solve the riddles based on building materials and building components.
Total 30 teams entered their name in event and 10 teams had attended the roun1. Papers were checked by volunteers.

Report on Genesis Event
Objective: To improve the thinking ability and also practical applicability of theoretical concepts.
Description: There were two participants in a team. There was solo entry also. The event fees were Rs.40/Team. We expected total 50 entries.
Round1: Participants had to solve the questions based on measurement units & building components .Total of 32 teams entered their name in event and 17 teams had attended the round 1.Papers were checked by volunteers.
Round 2: All team were taken for round 2.In this round participants have to plan a city which contain basic requirements like hospital, college, school, police station etc with easy access from any point of city. We invited Dr.JayeshPitroda sir for checking that planned city as a jury panel.

(DREAM YOUR OWN CITY)
Objective: To make participants aware about modern high rise building construction and difficulties involved in constructing them.
Description: There were two participants in a team. There were also participants who had solo entry. The workshop fee was Rs. 60/Team. We expected a total of 60 entries.
Round 1: Workshop was conducted by Er. Paresh Patel. He had over 25+ years of experience in the field of Construction Management and had constructed many high rise buildings i.e.
Skyscrapers. In the workshop he shared his knowledge and experience with the participants informing them about the various aspects, importance, difficulties, step-wise process of constructing skyscrapers. Total of 32 teams (45 participants) attended the workshop and had a great learning experience. After attending this workshop, participants proceeded towards the Auditorium for participating in Central level workshop.
3. CONSTRUCTION OF SKYSCRAPPERS

The Inauguration Ceremony of the event commenced onJanuary9, at10:00 AM with prayer and lamp lightning. Dr. Indrajit Patel, Principal, BVM Engineering College, graced the ceremony and welcomed everyone to CIW: 2025. He inspired the delegates with his motivational words and energetic approach. Er. Biren Dalal, Sr. General Manager, TATA Consulting Engineers Ltd as the Chief Guest of the function motivated the delegates with his enlightening thoughts. Er. Bhikhubhai Patel, Chairman, Charutar Vidya Mandal and the President of the Inauguration ceremony CIW: 2025 gave his blessings to all the delegates and encouraged them towards building a brighter and prosperous future. The inauguration ceremony was concluded by Vote of Thanks.
SESSION ON CHALLENGES IN BUILDING STATUE OF UNITY
Mr. Mukesh Rawal is a retired Project Director of statue of Unity L&T. Mr. Rawal has played the role of Planning Engineer, Project Planning and Control head, Materials Manager, Resident Engineer, Project Manager and Country head L&T-Oman for Building and Urban Infrastructure. He delivered a key note session on Challenges in building Statue of Unity. It was informative, interactive and innovative session. He has inspired a lot delegates to design monumental structures like Statue of Unity and solved various doubts of the delegates for the same. Prof. A N Bhavsar was the session chair.

Mr. Gautam Tiwari was the guest speaker for national Symposium on Civil Infrastructure World Colon 2025. He is a creator of India’s first fully VR product for the building industry. He holds a degree in Construction Management and is a Lead – accredited professional with global experience of over 20 years in the architecture and the design industry. He delivered an informative session on growing relevance in VR in AEC industry. He explained how VR helps in AEC industry in depth. So many enthusiast delegates got more knowledge about the VR technology and its application in AEC industry. It was a great informative session. He also the practical demonstration of the same.

SESSION ON SUSTAINABLE INFRASTRUCTURE USING SMART AND MULTIFUNCTIONAL CONCRETE
Dr. Trudeep Dave has obtained his doctoral degree from IIT Bombay in year 2013. He is associated with IIT Ran since June, 2015. He developed a device named “Atriaxial geo composite testing apparatus for simultaneously calibrating multiple pressure transducers” and filed an Indian Patent in year 2011. He has immense knowledge of concrete which is integral part of construction. Many delegates got to know about various different multifunctional concrete and got their doubted clear regarding concrete. He explained about various multifunctional concrete and how they have upper hand in modern construction. The session spread awareness among the delegates about how the future is improving with such advancement in concrete. Prof. Suman Patel was the session chair.

It was the last session of the day. Mr. Abhijeet Kumar Chaudhary is an assistant general manager in Mumbai Metro Rail Corporation. He started his career as a trainee Civil Engineer in 2010 in Afcons Infrastructure Ltd.
for Kolkata metro and serves as a technical engineer. Senior engineer in L&T STEC JV for Delhi Metro Rail Underground Station. He delivered an informative session on Tunnel construction and predicaments in its construction. He has also shared his vast experience in this field. He indeed motivated the delegates to build a career in this domain. Prof. C B Mishra was the session chair.

SESSION ON FUTURE OF INDIA IN REAL ESTATE BUSINESS
Mr. Ramakrishnan is a Project Management professional with more than 30 years of experience in construction, real estate, power projects, facility and community management. Presently he is with Lodha Developers, as Chief Operating Officer, largest Real Estate Company in residential sales based out of Mumbai, India. Before Lodha, he has worked with Shibha Ltd. As Deputy Managing Director for a decade. He talked about the construction industry, influence of technology and how to improve the quality and speed of construction in digital era. He also briefly touched on the financial slow down prevailing in real estate sector. Engineer Hiren Nanavati was the session chair.

SESSION 3D DRONE MAPPING
Mrs. Poonam Gupta, Chief of staff at Drona Maps and has more than 19 years of experience in the industry. She is masters in Executive Management Program and worked with group like Chemin, Pearl, and NIIT Technologies. After her successful stint of 18 years in corporate she made a big transition in her career and joined a start-up as Head HR. She is currently working at Drona Maps with a vision of drones everywhere and her focus remains to be the same as building a happy and talented team at Drona Maps. She was accompanied by the technical person Mr. Rahul Kumar. They talked about the future of advanced surveying the application of Drone technology in 3D mapping and the advantages the limitations of the same. SESSION ON CIVIL ENGINEERING 4.0
Bharadwaj Kumaresh is currently working as Design Engineer with Atkins India Pvt. Ltd. in Bangalore. He has 6 years of experience in hydrology, remote sensing, GIS, data science and risk assessment. He has core expertise in Urban and River riles Flood modelling and has worked in projects across India, UK, Europe and US geographies. He delivered a session on the future of Civil Engineering focusing on Geospatial Technology and GIS and various applications of the same. He made the session interesting by showing them various videos for better visualisation and giving chocolates to whomsoever answered him. Prof A N Desai was the session chair.

SESSION ON BUILDING CONSERVATION AND RESTORATION
Mrs. Poonam Trambadia is a conservation Architect based in Ahmedabad. She completed her B.Arch From SCET, Surat. M.Arch. from SPA, Delhi. She has been working as a consultant to organisations like World Monument Funds, Archaeological Survey of India, TCGL and other NGO’s. Her conservation projects include World Heritage sites of Rani Ki Vav and Historic city of Ahmedabad, Hinglaj Ghar Fort IIM-A and temples at Lonar, Maharashtra. She briefly talked about the need for building conservation, the restoration and various ways of doing it so that the building or monument does not loses it unique historical importance. SESSION ON FIBROX 3D
Mr. Karan Kamani is Director of Fibrox 3D. Fibrox 3D is specialised in service business dealing with 3D scanning, 3D reverse engineering and engineering services, 3D inspection, product development, plant scanning, long range scanning and 3D printing for prototyping of the developed products. It belongs to the business unit called the 3D business wherein it provides service of 3D laser scanning with a FARO focus 3D laser scanner.

A visit to Mumbai was organized under the banner of IEI civil from 28th February to 2nd March to give students insight of Mega-Projects construction, techniques, and innovations.
For the sake of visit 45students had taken part along with 4 faculty members and visited 3 sites namely Underground Metro line 3, Continental heights and the Lodha Park which are setting benchmarks in the irate as being it in name of vertical sky line or beneath the ground. The objective of this visit was to acknowledge the students about the practical exposure to the oretical knowledge gained and how the different teams oriented for different purpose works to together to meet goal sand over comes the challenges faced during project.

Mumbai Technical Visit
Day 1 (28TH February)
All the 45 students and faculty members boarded Gujarat Express train at 8:15 AM from Anand and reached Mumbai at 4:00 PM. The stay for students was at hotel Neelkamal in Kalbadevi which was nearest to all our visits locations. Students took walk and Explored marine lines and faculties explained about tetra pods and coastal road project.
Day 2 (29TH February)
Underground Metroline3
On second day of tour at 10:00 AM students visited Under ground metro line 3 built by Mumbai Metro Rail Corporation Limited which is a Joint Venture company of Govt. Of India & Govt. Of Maharashtra, package 2 of HCC-MM Shaving 4 stations CST MasCut and cover and Grant road, Kalbadevi and Girgaon as NATM stations and package 7 under L&T-Shanghai tunnel Engineering Co. Having 3 stations: Marol Nakaas NATM and MID Cand Seepzas Cutand Cover. Mumbai metro line 3 is 33.5 km long line having 26 underground stations and one at grade station, the cost of corridor is approx.
Rupees 30,000 cr. After implementation of Mumbai Metro Master Plan, more than 70 lakh commuters are expected to get benefit which in turn wills substantially reduce the traffic on road and congestion in suburban rails.
On reaching the site the students were given snacks, and a presentation regarding Underground metro line was shown. The students learnt about techniques and operations of tunnelling and about design of stations. They had viewed the tunnelling rings which have 5 segments and 1 key having 1.4m width and thickness of 275mm, various safety measures, concreting, mucking, drilling in tunnel was also covered in the visit.

Continental Heights
Students also visited Project continental heights located at Mazgaon that stands tall in the skies with the famous zoo on one side and the Arabian Sea on the other. The project comprises of two buildings, one of rehabilitation building of 35 storeys having 8 flats of 1 BHK on each a floor and second sales building consisting of 45 storey having 6 flats on each floor. The architecture was done by The Hafeez Contractor and Samoon & Associates.
Structural consultant was J W consultants. 267 tenements were rehabilitees for this project that’s per day cost of rent consists of 2 lakh rupees. It consists of 6 floors of parking and sales building having 4.9m deep beam. Project manager Mr. Abbas Bhabharawala and Project Engineer Mr. Aziz had given information about on it took 5 years for planning and on evincing the tenants and also how the transfer floor and 4.9m deep girder beam was casted. The total construction cost is 280 Cr and they are using maivan shuttering for the construction and they are casting beams, slab and walls all together. It takes 1 week to cast next floor along beam, walls and slab, also for making it quick they have made form work for in-built flat form in kitchen, and didn’t used wooden frames and used colored putty which saves additional time for painting.

Day 3 (1st March)
On 3rd day of technical visit the students were taken to some of the great and old building structures like The World Towers, Bandra-Worli sea link, Elephanta caves, Gate way of India and Taj hotel, where our guide explained us how they are built and how they are resting over the years as it is.

Day 4(2nd March) Lodha Group: The Park
On 4th day of technical visit the students went for “Lodha-The Park” built by The Lodha group, which is lying over a huge area of 7 acre land. They gave a small presentation to give the brief about their project “Lodha–The Park”. After presentation we were taken to visit the site by Mr. Hiren Sapariya. He informed us that for the construction of six 76 storey towers they did 3.2 million earthworks. In which first and second towers are almost completed, frame of third, fourth and fifth towers is completed and sixth tower is in construction stage. The towers are resting on foundation of 3500 cum Raft. For the natural air circulate on they planted about 700 plant trees and for that they refilled 18000 cum. Red soil. They used 85k Ton of steel and also they did 1.7m of concreting. Further we were taken to 61 storeys. The luxurious area has a view of golf course on one side, Arabian Sea, Bandra-Worli sea link and Mazgaon dock. Further we were informed about how they check verticality of structure by plumb bob in hollow core and the engineer mentioned how many challenges they faced in bringing materials and labours to site.

At 3:25 PM all students took the train Bhavnagar SF to leave Mumbai and reached Anand junction at 10:45 PM on same day.
Out comes of visit:
Students learned how important is planning and scheduling in such Mega-Projects.
Students have learned about TBM components and tunnelling procedures along with various types of stations and piles constructed there.
The visit also lighted the perspective of students and they came across many construction challenges on how to save cost and work as fast as possible.
Further it also made students aware of modern construction techniques of Maivan, slip form work, AAC blocks, colored putty, grout etc.
The students learned on the site challenges and how these projects over came them by effective planning.

“STATUE OF UNITY” as part of our subject of advanced construction technique. Our technical faculty guides is to Dr. J. R. Pitroda sir and Prof. (Dr.) H. V. Patel sir.
We have to report at 6:30 am at BVM civil garden for breakfast. After the breakfast we depart from college at 7:30 am. We reach kevadiya colony at 10:30 am. We take bus that is provided to tour of SOU. First we reach sardar sarovar dam at 11:00 am. We viewed sardar sarovar dam from viewing point. Prof.(Dr) H.V. patel sir explain us about dam structure and how this work, why this type of shape is provide and so many term explain us live.

After that we visited the museum of SOU. Moreover at the end of day around 7:00 pm we perceived the leaser show and depart from SOU at 7:30 pm. We reach at BVM College at 10:30 pm. and after that we had dinner and take permeation to leave from our faculty guide.

Report on L&T CSTI and Science City Visit
Construction Skills Training Institute:

The training institute’s principal explained us the motive behind the set-up of skill training institute being generation of employment as well as meet the demands of industry to get skilled people on site.•
We visited the model room of the same which had electrification tools, road signs, samples of form works, brick masonry, miniature models of various foundation, safety signs and equipment, airport terminals model, survey trade model, material testing lab, Concrete testing lab, L&T patent formwork etc.•
L&T works with one principle: Safety, Quality and Productivity.•
Students also got to have a close look at the quality check lab where they had hot air oven, flakiness and elongation gauge, pan balance, rapid moisture meter, marshal moulds, bitumen extractor, cement mortar machine, aggregate impact value test, specific gravity test and asphalt compactor pedestal. Students undergoing the training over there were seen performing the test on their own under supervision.•
One of the important module of subject construction technology is the types of bond in brick masonry, students were shown models of stretcher bond, English bond, Flemish bond and also try making the same with bricks and use their theoretical knowledge to enhance their own field experience.Gujarat Science City, Ahmedabad :
Here, the students visited an energy park, a Hall of science, Planet Earth models, an amphitheatre and Life Science Park. The centre also provides housing for students preparing for science exams.
We created understanding and enriched our knowledge about selection of appropriate structural and functional building components and formworks. We also learnt about the significance and properties of those components and its testing equipment.
Thanks to the BVM management, faculty members and TEQIP for arranging this trip and making it a successful one.

Then Er. Amit Sharma sir started his valuable session. He started with introduction of himself and his college life and also discussed about his journey after graduation. Then he discussed about different problems in construction industry due to present situation of COVID-19 and what will be situation and opportunities post this situation. He has thrown some light on Current Construction Industry requirement and scope for higher studies. He also explained about the modern construction methods like pod Toilets or ready made toilets, 3D printing and precast floors.
Er.Amit Sharma sir also give the proper guidance and discussed about the how COVID19 affects Civil engineering profession, what are the rumours regarding the job and research in the industry and how the students become ready for industry. At last students asked some question and sir had given the proper solution of their doubts. He also congratulates and was thankful to the organizers for providing him this opportunity.
