CUCET 2011 Pattern for MA English and Comparative Literature Students
The general scheme of the Model Question Paper for the MA English Entrance Exam
The paper consists of two parts.
PART ONE is designed to test the general level of the students’ awareness, and reasoning and analytical skills. The scheme is as follows:
1. Multiple choice questions 35 (1x35=35 marks) to test general awareness. Duration – 35 Minutes
PART TWO is designed to gauge their proficiency in grammar, English literature, and Literary forms. (65 marks) Duration 85 minutes
The scheme is as follows:
1) Grammar: To test the knowledge of the basic rules of grammar ten sentences for
correction. (1x10=10 marks)
2) Objective type questions (ten out of fifteen) (1x10 = Marks 10) 3) Two short essays (out of ten) on literary topics (2x5 = Marks 10) 4) One three-hundred word essay out of fifteen questions on literary topics. (Marks 20) 5) Two questions out of seven on literary forms. (2x5 = 10 marks)
6) A poem for comprehension (1x5 = 5 Marks)
