DEPARTMENT OF HISTORY& POLITICAL SCIENCE – ASSOCIATION ACTIVITIES The History association activities of the academic year 2018-2019 started in June 2018. The association conducted various programmes to augment the academic and interpersonal skills of students.
As part of the lecture series programme the department conducted a talk on 28/06/2018 which was delivered by Dr. Deepesh V.K, Sub Editor, Akhanda Jyoti Magazine.
In connection with Anti-Hiroshima Day a debate on the topic ‘Current Issues in Indian Politics’ was conducted by Ms. Grace Mary Jose.
‘Kadappuram Cleaning programme’ was conducted in Chavakkad under the project ‘Unnat Bharath Abhiyan’ on June, July months. Students of History participated in it whole heartedly.
In connection with the Independence Day a Quiz Competition was conducted on 18/08/2018.
The official inauguration of History Association was done by Dr.Adarsh.C, Assistant Professor, Malayalam Department, Sree Vivekanandha College, Kunnamkulam. Miss Athira V.R was elected as the association secretary. The inaugural ceremony was followed by a seminar. “EXPO-2018” depicting our important freedom fighters and their contributions was inaugurated by Principal Rev. Sr. Dr. Moly Clare.
In connection with ‘Keralapiravi’, a handwritten magazine ‘Historia’was published on 01/11/2018.
A workshop was conducted to the students of III B.A. on the topic- IATA & Aviation courses and Job opportunities by Speed Wings, Thrissur on 22/11/2018.
The departments of History and Political Science observed Constitution Day on 26/11/2018 with a seminar on the topic ‘Preamble of the Constituion’ by Ms. Grace Mary Jose.
Armed Forces Flag Day was observed on 07/12/2018 and a seminar was organised by the faculty of History & Politics.
Palliative cell of the department conducted ‘Mathrusangamam’ at Sandeepani Mathrusadanam at Mammiyoor on 18/12/2018 and soothened the lonely mothers.
Students of History bagged Second Prize in Crib competition conducted by the college on 19/12/2018.
Faculty celebrated X’mas with the marginalized labourers of outside Kerala on 25/12/2018 at Guruvayoor.
The department of History conducted Study Tour to Chikmanglore, Coorg and Mysore from 01/01/2019 to 04/01/2019 escorted by Sr.Jeesma Therese and Ms. Smitha Puthur.
A National Seminar on “Intellectual Property Rights” was conducted by the Departments of History and Politics on 24/01/2019. Ms.Shareena Jasmin, Assistant Professor in History, Jayaraj Annapackiam College, Theni & Dr.Abhilash,Scientist, Malabar Botanical Garden &
Institute for Plant Sciences, Kozhikode were the resource persons of the seminar.
A workshop was provided to the students of III B.A History on the topic, Career advancement through Talley courses on 29/01/2019. Gandhi Smrithi is observed in connection with world peace day with a ‘Discourse on Gandhi’ led by Ms. Smitha Puthur.
Extempore Speech competition and Paper Craft Competition conducted in connection with World Peace Day on 30/01/2019.
Paper Presentation completion was conducted by the department on the topic ‘Adivasi Land Rights in Kerala’ on 11/02/2019. Research Club conducted discussion on the topic
“Endosalfan Problem in Kasargod’ on 20/02/2018.
Lecture series-3 was conducted on 08/03/2019 on the topic ‘Methodology of Local History’
by P.S.Manojkumar, Assistant Professor and Head, Department of History, Sri C Achyutha Menon Government College, Trichur. Research Club conducted a discussion on the topic
‘Adivasi Struggles in Kerala’ on 12/03/2019.
