IASTA MEETING AND INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE
ON
AEROSOLS, CLOUDS AND INDIAN MONSOON
AT IIT KANPUR NOVEMBER 15-17, 2004
ORGANISED BY
INDIAN INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY KANPUR – 208 016,
INDIA
CONFERENCE
The Indian Aerosol Science and Technology Association (IASTA) is organizing its next meeting and International Conference with special theme "Aerosols, Clouds and Indian Monsoon" in the city of Kanpur which is situated in the center of the Indo-Gangetic plain during November 15-17, 2004. The atmospheric aerosols and clouds play an important role in controlling the global climatic conditions in general and in particular Indian monsoon. In recent years the atmospheric aerosols, both natural and anthropogenic, have received considerable attention because of their impact on human health. Since last one decade, the aerosols and clouds have found to influence the weather and climatic conditions of the Indo-Gangetic plains. The scientists in general are very much concerned about the role of aerosols and clouds and their effect on the climatic conditions and Indian monsoon.
The main objective of the Conference is to bring National and International scientists with diversified expertise (aerosol scientists, cloud physicists, atmospheric scientists, meteorologists, environmentalists, agricultural and health scientists) on one platform to understand the role of aerosol and clouds in global climate system in general and in particular to Indian monsoon. Recently, remote sensing tools have been proved to be very important in studying aerosol and clouds: the validation and understanding of remote sensing data are dependent on the laboratory and ground measurements. In the proposed Conference, invited and contributed papers on following aspects are invited.
THEMES
v Atmospheric Aerosol Characterization
v Regional & Long Range Transport Modeling
v Climate Effects and Radiative Forcing
