Action Taken Report on ‘Swachhta Hi Sewa’ and ‘Shun Single-use Plastic’ at ICAR RC NEH, Manipur Centre (2nd Oct, 2019)
On 2nd October, 2019 to commemorate the 150th Birth Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, the ICAR RC NEH, Manipur Centre organized the awareness programme on ‘Swachhta Hi Sewa’ with special focus on reducing the use of ‘Single-use Plastic’ in day to day use. The Head of Regional Centre, Dr. N. Prakash welcomed the Hon’ble Member of Parliament, and highlighted about the centers initiative for cleanliness drive especially on reducing the use of ‘single-use plastic’. The Hon’ble Member of Parliament Dr. R.K. Ranjan Singh graced the occasion and highlighted the Governments initiative in cleanliness drive and to shun the use of single-use plastic. He urged the public to minimize the use of single-use plastic in phased manner and opt for biodegradable options. All staff of the Centre including scientific, technical, administrative, supporting staff and research scholars participated in the event. The KVKs under the Centre (Imphal West, Churachandpur, Chandel, Tamenglong, Ukhrul) also observed the ‘Swachhta Hi Sewa’ at respective campuses. KVKs also organized the awareness programmes to general public for shunning the use of ‘single-use plastic’.
