Synopsis of the Activity (Description)

Highlights of the Activity

1. The session began with an address by Dr. Leena James on the SDG Goals and started with her explaining the vision and mission statements of the SDG cell and the importance afforded to the SDG cell by top management in the University.

2. An action plan was unveiled for the SDG cell going forward consisting of the steps of raising awareness, creating task forces, coming up with action plans, and then implementing and

monitoring them.

3. The various SDG goals were enumerated one after the other, and members of individuals departments shared what they were doing towards conducting events related to those SDG goals that had been assigned to them.

4. Dr. Elena who joined through online mode spoke about what she experienced during her visit to central campus and expressed hopes that Christ can become a global leader in the SDG Goals 5. The Vice Chancellor addressed the audience and related

experiences from his foreign visits and his vision for Christ campuses and their future.

Summary of the Activity

SDG cell began its activities for the new academic year after the formation of the volunteer body and working committees with an explanation of goals, upcoming and past events by Dr. Leena James and an address by Dr Fr. Joseph C C.

Dr. Leena James is a well-known keynote speaker and resource person for national and international conferences in the areas of Finance, CSR, Sustainability, Corporate Governance, and Management. Ma’am was the Chair of International Conferences on Sustainability and Management. Ma’am is a visionary Entrepreneur, Environmentalist, Philanthropist. Ma’am delivered a Speech on ‘Sustainability practices of Indian University at the International Sustainability Summit at FH Munster University, Germany recently in November 2022.

Dr Fr Joseph C C, Vice chancellor, Christ University, is a well known and respected speaker and intellectual who has participated in multiple research projects and international seminars and is an inspiration for students and faculty members alike. Sir is a visionary leader who has worked hard to lead Christ University and has an eager and inspirational vision of how to take it into the future. Sir’s presence at the event was invaluable and a massive honour to all those present who heard him speak.
