Association Activities –Department of Computer Science
The activities of Computer Science Association(STACS) of the year 2019-2020 commenced on 27th of June 2019. The Association activities of this academic year was officially inaugurated on 31st of August 2019 by Diji Davis. M, our former student and Senior Project Engineer WIPRO. The inaugural session was followed by a talk on Industrial Experience. The association conducted various programmes to enrich students with technical, social and academic values. Ms.Hasna E. Aboobacker of IInd DC Computer Science and Ms. Anjaly K.L of IIIrd DC Computer Science was selected as secretary and joint secretary respectively.
On 27th June, a project orientation class was conducted for the final year students by Mr.
Jestin James (Assistant professor).In connection with world nature conservation day a PPT competition was conducted on 29th of July , Gayathri M.R IIIrd DC English, Christina Paul V IIIrd DC English won the prizes. On 3rd of August, Alumnae meet of 2005th batch was conducted.
An amount of RS 40,000 were collected by our Alumnae for helping a computer science student in need.
On 27th of August IInd year students visited an old age home for the welfare of aged people at Chowanoor. Students collected and distributed daily need articles, sweets and conducted several cultural activities for them.
Computer science department actively participated in the mega expo arranged by the college on 31st August 2019. The expo exhibited the activities, achievement of Computer Science department.
In connection with SWACHATHA mission, association organised a one week programme from September 24th to October 1st to propagate the message of Waste Management and Disposal. Following programmes were conducted as a part of it. All the students of our department participated in college campus cleaning as part of the Swach Bharath Abhiyan. Students solely deployed on road cleaning activity on 25th September 2019.The road from Mammiyoor center to college was the target and it was completed successfully. In collaboration with Clean Kerala Company Ltd a govt of Kerala undertaking ,our department organised E-Waste Collection Campaign . On 26th and 27th of September we collected E-waste from LF school, Chowannoor Grampanachayath and nearby places of college. E-waste from departments and students were collected.
The association played a significant role in preparing the computer science students for various campus Recruitment drive. Our students participated in various recruitment drive and Bagyalakshmi of IIIrd DC computer science shortlisted for the campus recruitment of COGNIZANT.
As a part of Swachhta Pakhwada Programme, a survey on “Water Wastage” in College campus was conducted on 23rd January. Students conducted an awareness campaign on water conservation, and also awareness leaflets were prepared and distributed on 28th January.
An orientation class on higher education and carrier opportunities in computer science was conducted on 30th January by Mr.Jomy from Sensorium ,Thrissur.
