ABOUT THE INSTITUTION
National Institute of Technology (NIT), Tiruchirappalli, the dream destination of every aspiring engineer and researcher, is in celebration of the Golden Jubilee year (1964- 2014) of its service to the student community and society.
ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT
The Department of Chemistry, National Institute of Technology, Tiruchirappalli, is one of the oldest Chemistry Departments in the country. The contributions of the Department in almost all frontier areas of Chemistry have already made a mark on the National scenario. The research activities of the Department are funded by MHRD, UGC, CSIR, DST, MOEF, BRNS, DRDO, etc. and the Department boasts of a wide range of sophisticated instruments available for current trends in research.
Who can participate? Post graduate students of Chemistry (both I M.Sc. and II M.Sc.) can apply.
Scope of the Workshop
Electrochemistry is a well established branch of Chemistry and its applications are unparalleled. The electroanalytical techniques are valuable tools in qualitative and quantitative investigations and they have enthralled both academia and research world alike. Good exposure and sound understanding of these techniques enable one to make the best use of the techniques.
Hence this workshop has been designed to provide hands on experience on the electroanalytical techniques such as
• Electrochemical evaluation of corrosion rate by Tafel polarization
• Efficiency of electroplating and determination of current efficiency
•Null point potentiometry
• Evaluation of stability constant of a complex by potentiometric method
•Galvanostatic techniques
•Potentiostatic techniques
In commemoration of the Golden jubilee year of our Institution, six Golden jubilee lectures on Industrial applications of Electrochemistry have also been arranged as a part of the Workshop sessions, and they will be delivered by experienced and practicing Electrochemists from Central Electrochemical research Institute, Karaikudi.
Registration Fee: Rs.300/-
(DD for Rs.300/- should be drawn in favour of “The Director, NIT, Tiruchirappalli”, and payable at Tiruchirappalli)
