TUT Application Guidelines for the Monbukagakusho Honors Scholarship for Privately-Financed International

Students (Gakushu-shoureihi) 2020

A. Qualifications and conditions Applicants must fulfil all conditions below.

1. Applicants:

(1) Graduate level: privately-financed international students* enrolled as regular students (master's program or doctoral program) or research students.

(2) Undergraduate level: privately-financed international students* enrolled as regular students.

*The candidate must have a student visa and must not be receiving the Japanese Government (Monbukagakusho) Scholarship or any Foreign Government Scholarship. Privately funded international student.

2. Conditions:

(1) The candidate must have a GPA of 2.30 or more at graduate or undergraduate level or the Japanese language institute in the academic year previous to the year for which the scholarship is granted in accordance with the method provided in the guideline below and maintain the same GPA during the scholarship period. In cases where the evaluation cannot be expressed in the form of GPA, the candidate’s evaluation result must be equivalent or higher at each of the mentioned levels.

(2) The candidate must meet the condition, that necessary required condition of Japanese or English languages under written the Scholarship Guidelines.

(3) After the scholarship is granted, the candidate must agree to cooperate in the career path survey conducted by JASSO through the educational institution in which the candidate is enrolled or other methods.

(4) Allowance (excluding enrollment fee, tuition fee, etc.) received by the candidate must not exceed an average of 90,000 yen per month.

(5) If the student has a financial supporter in Japan, his/her annual income must be less than 5 million yen.

(6) The candidate must not be receiving a scholarship that cannot be combined with other scholarships.

(7) The candidate must not be receiving support under JASSO’s international students support program.

(8) The candidate must be enrolled at Toyohashi University of Technology for the entire period (from April 2020 to March 2021) covered by the scholarship.

B. Number of applicants TUT recommends 6 students

C. Grants:

Monthly Allowance: 48,000yen

Period of Scholarship: 1 year, from April 2020 until March 2021

D. Required documents:

(1) Application form (Please come to the International Affairs Division to receive the form.) (2) Copy of both sides of Residence card

(3) Copy of JP Bank's passbook

(4) Academic transcript for 2019 academic year

* If you are a new student in 2020, submit a transcript of your previous school.

(5) Documents to prove your language proficiency (TOEFL, TOEIC, IELTS, Japanese Language Proficiency Test, etc.)

E. Application deadline:

Monday 13 April, 2020

TUT will not accept any application after the deadline, nor will it accept incomplete applications.

F. Schedule of Result Announcement

Result of screening (University’s selection): around the end of April, 2020 Fina result from MEXT: middle of June 2020

*TUT will calculate based on the transcript submitted by the applicants.
