Based on the attitude at different levels of common ethnic cultures and using the methods of comparative historical and comparative typological research, the author, using the example of two-string bow instruments with hair strings and some features of the musical thinking of "Eastern ” and the “Western” Turks, actualizes the typology of the musical cultures of the peoples of Central Asia. They were reflected not only in musical instruments and stylistics, but also in the different types of musical thinking characteristic of the "Eastern Turkish" and "Western Turkish" cultural systems. According to the author, a comprehensive study of the musical cultures of Central Asia, as well as their cross-cultural studies, will reveal both the cultural typology and the unity of the Turko-Mongolian-Iranian culture of this area.
