UNIMAS Wins Mongolia's Ecopreneur 2012 Award

KUCHING, June 22 (Bernama) -- A lecturer from Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS) has won the CEO award at the Ecopreneur 2012 - a green business initiative international conference - in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia.

A business plan on a water treatment plant for a sago processing factory submitted by Dr Azham Zulkharnain of Unimas' Department of Molecular Biology was adjudged the winner of the Ecopreneur competition, said Unimas' corporate communications unit in a statement.

The project, which was jointly produced with Unimas' Faculty of Economics and Business, and Faculty of Science and Resource Technology, had also won the Unimas R&D Exposition 2012 award.

Members of Azham's team included Dr Zainab Ngaini, Prof Madya Dr Nazlina, Nordiana Ahmad Nordin, and two students, Mohd Ismail Salim and Vannessa Lawai.

UNIMAS was among 26 groups from 22 countries which took part in the one-week Ecopreneur 2012 in Mongolia which comes to a close Friday.
