KUALA LUMPUR: Four disabled participants recently performed in the final round of Selangor OKU Entrepreneurs League - Selangor Youth Community (SAY) LEAD (leaders, entrepreneurship, acceleration and development).

The event, piloted by SAY, was graced by Raja Muda of Selangor Tengku Amir Shah Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah, who carried a vision and mission to promote inclusion in diversity, especially among youth entrepreneurs.

The Selangor government sponsored the league through its Entrepreneur Development Standing Committee led by Rodziah Ismail.

First winner Yusairi Hafiz, 31, is a physically disabled person (nerves of the right hand and leg) who runs a business called Putu Piring Warisan Nenek.

He runs the business at Medan Selera Pasar Moden MPSJ SS15, Subang Jaya.

Armed with a business start-up capital of only RM3,000, his business income reaches RM30,000 a month, and he has six assistants.

Second winner Faizul, 39, is a visually impaired (blind right eye) who runs a carpet cleaning business named Cuci Karpet Bukit Beruntung in Rawang, Selangor.

He has seven employees in the carpet cleaning operation and one of them has disabilities.

Third winner Nooraihan, 41, is a physically disabled person in a wheelchair who runs a business selling home appliances named BNG Systems.

His company has given birth to 300 e-commerce entrepreneurs.

He was a guest instructor of the UKM CSR program, a star in the Shopee community 2021 and achieved a Shopee preferred seller (preferred seller).

OKU Harapan entrepreneur Linges Warry Apparao, 23, is a disabled youth who has been using a respirator for the past 15 years.

He runs a cosmetics business using the brand named Absolute Glam Global.

He has a diploma in management and entered the SAY LEAD program to improve the right marketing and sales channels.

According to SAY, every two weeks during the business coaching course was conducted, participants were given in-house assignments to be implemented in their business.

Each participant was also mentored by business experts and mentors from UiTM's Faculty of Management and Business to ensure understanding and practicality objectives in applying the knowledge given were achieved.

"The top 10 disabled entrepreneurs have been selected and eligible to make a presentation before a jury.

"Three OKU entrepreneurs who got a place in the final presentation would gain benefits, including a trophy and certificate of recognition from SAY.

"They will also be eligible for the next level of SAY LEAD +, a one-year coaching program for helping them grow their business through access to new markets, digitalisation business and export markets," it added.
