Pauh Putra, 27 September 2016 – The Universiti Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP) team performed superbly at the UniMAP Woodball Open Championship 2016 being victorious in the women's singles, women's team and the men's team categories in Perlis state inter-departmental matches.

UniMAP Vice Chancellor Dato’ Prof Dr Zul Azhar Zahid Jamal stated that 20 teams took part in the inaugural championship organised by UniMAP with participation even from schools and Institutes of Higher Learning (IPT) thus proving that the sport is capable of attracting young players.

“I believe that this positive development bode a higher number of future talents among the younger generation increasing the organisations of championships in UniMAP or nationally.

“As a university with experience in organising international woodball matches, I am pleased to see participation not just from government departments but also from the public sector from within Perlis and without,” he spoke during the Award Presentation and Closing Ceremony of the tournament at the Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra Library (PTSFP) Auditorium.
