JJJJJose Dukose Dukose Dukose Duke ose Duke e e e BABABABABAGULAGULAGULAGULAGULAYYYYYAAAAA is Assistant Professor of comparative literature at the University of the Philippines Diliman and the author of, among other works, Writing Literary History: Mode of Economic Production and 20th Century Waray Poetry (UP Press 2006). He holds a Bachelor of Laws, a BA in Communication Arts, and an MA in Comparative Literature. As a lawyer, he has defended artist, Carlos Celdran, and the Philippine Airlines Employees Association (PALEA), among others.

His research interests include the Pacific War, language, and intellectual history. His recent publications include

“Mga Tala Hinggil sa Papel ng Tunggalian sa Pilosopiya ng Wika at Araling Wika [Notes on the Role of Struggle in the Philosophy of Language and Language Studies]” (2015), which was published in Lagda.

She earned her PhD in Southeast Asian History (2017) and MSc. in Asian Studies (2012) at Nanyang Technological University. Her research interests includes cinema, culture, and politics in Cold War/postcolonial Southeast Asia, and political and cultural discourses on Singapore education and economy. She has taught at De La Salle University and the Ateneo de Manila University, Philippines.

She obtained her Bachelor of Arts in Philippine Studies from UP Diliman, and her Master of Arts in Asian Studies from the UP Asian Center. Her current research focuses on comparative politics between the Philippines and Indonesia and on the power rivalry between Japan and China in Southeast Asia.

She teaches literary theory, Philippine literary movements, and gender and sexuality in literature. She has authored numerous articles on women’s literary history and movements in the Philippines. Hernando is the secretary of the All UP Academic Employees Union-Diliman.
