Enhancing Competitiveness of Advertisement Websites Using User Experience Design and Search Engine Optimization

ABSTRACT
Application development is one of the factors being considered in a business. This is needed to have controlled and accurate information and to be competitive in the industry.
However, it is observed that application development is not only concerned with the quality of the code and user interface, but also the usability of the application – a study called user experience (henceforth, UX) design. UX, a user-centric approach of development, is the quality of how the user interacts with the application. This aims to discuss the importance of user experience design in the development phase of an application.
Free classified advertisement platforms exist with different aspects and features. In the Philippines, there are various companies that have deployed systems which are widely used today. This includes olx.ph, ayosdito.ph, and tipidpc.com; however, other advertisement websites are not statistically significant. Of the mentioned website, Adspinoy.com is the free classified advertisement that needs improvements which this study has taken as its objective website/application. This is due to the approximately 30,000-page views which are relatively low. Alexa.com, a web ranking site of Amazon, found out that AdsPinoy.com does not have enough data from the time it was deployed.
Technology in 2011 differs from what is available today, namely, HTML5, CCS3, website responsiveness, SEO algorithms, microformats, jQuery, bootstrap CSS, PHP, Codeigniter, Secure Socket Layer in HTTP, and social networking login. These technologies, once integrated, can make a strong user experience design and show dramatic increase in the improvement of customer retention results.
