GOD’S WORDS FOR TODAY (Lk 1:57-66,80) The Holy Gospel according to St. Luke The Birth of Saint of John the Baptist

When the time arrived for Elizabeth to have her child she gave birth to a son. Her neighbors and relatives heard that the Lord had shown his great mercy toward her, and they rejoiced with her. When they came on the eight day to circumcise the child, they were going to call him Zechariah after his father, but his mother said in reply, “No. He will be called John.” But they answered her, “There is no one among your relatives who has this name.” So they made signs, asking his father what he wished him to be called. He asked for a tablet and wrote, “John is his name,” and all were amazed. Immediately his mouth was opened, his tongue freed, and he spoke blessing God. Then fear came upon all their neighbors, and all these matters were discussed throughout the hill country of Judea. All who heard these things took them to heart, saying, “What, then, will this child be?” For surely the hand of the Lord was with him.

The child grew and became strong in spirit, and he was in the desert until the day of his manifestation to Israel.

MISSION VISION

“To be a sign of faith as an excellent educational institution, sharing in the Lasallian mission of teaching minds, touching hearts and transforming lives.”

(2)

From the GS- Christian Living with Character Education Department

The gift of wisdom leads the soul of those who have it to see things from God’s perspective. Wisdom is fullness of

knowledge through affinity for the divine, as when a person comes to know Christ’s Passion through suffering. It is also love, which inspires contemplative reflection on what we believe and directs the mind to judge according to its precepts. The gift of wisdom supplements the virtue of faith and shields us against

folly. http://www.saintjohnchurchmiddletown.com/pages/7gifts.aspx

FROM THE OVCAD – INSTITUTIONAL HEALTH SERVICES:

Continuation… Dengue How can it be treated?

So far there is no specific antiviral drug that can combat dengue. Only supportive and symptomatic measures can be taken.

Vigilance in the monitoring of the patient’s clinical status is the key to prompt treatment. Antibiotics do not have any value in the treatment of DFS. Most patients who have been clinically diagnosed with DFS will require hospital admission.

With a large number of people getting infected with the often fatal disease, it is time we took notice and made changes to protect ourselves. Here are a few simple and practical tips to keep dengue at bay:

#1: Turn over empty pails and buckets, so that they do not collect excess water. If the container that contains water cannot be emptied, remember to cover it well when not in use.

#2: Remember to clean out empty flower pots and not to over water potted plants. It is advised to not have any stagnant water around as it acts as breeding ground for the mosquitoes.

#3: Apply mosquito repellents on all exposed areas, during the day as well as at night on a regular basis to prevent dengue. Here are some innovative ways to keep your home mosquito free.

#4: Make sure your window and door screens do not have any holes. If so, block those areas properly to eliminate mosquitoes.
