GOD’S WORDS FOR TODAY (Mt. 11:11-15) The Holy Gospel according to St. Matthew

Truly, I say to you, among those born of women there has risen no one greater than John the Baptist; yet he who is least in the kingdom of heaven is greater than he. From the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven has suffered violence, and men of violence take it by force. For all the prophets and the law prophesied until John; and if you are willing to accept it, he is Elijah who is to come. He who has ears to hear, let him hear.

REFLECTION:

Who is the greatest in the kingdom of God? Jesus praised John the Baptist as the greatest person born. Who can top that as a compliment? But in the same breath Jesus says that the least in the kingdom of God is even greater than John! That sounds like a contradiction, right? Unless you understand that what Jesus was about to accomplish for our sake would supersede all that the prophets had done and foreseen.

PRAYER:

Lord Jesus, fill me with joy and confidence and make me a bold witness of your saving truth that others may know the joy and freedom of the Gospel of your kingdom of peace and righteousness. Amen.

Prayer of St. Gertrude

Eternal Father, I offer Thee the Most Precious Blood of Thy Divine Son, Jesus, in union with the masses said throughout the world today, for all the holy souls in purgatory, for sinners everywhere, for sinners in the universal church, those in my own home and within my family. Amen.

FROM THE INSTITUTIONAL SUSTAINABILITY OFFICE:

Strategic Direction on Creating Sustainable Futures

Goal #12 Responsible Consumption and Production Goal #13 Climate Action

The most awaited festive time for sharing and togetherness is almost here. It’s Christmas season!

In keeping with the spirit of sharing blessings, traditional gift-giving and get together of each class and community as a whole, EVERYONE is reminded to use sustainable and eco-friendly materials in decorating offices/classrooms and party food deliveries. FROM THE INSTITUTIONAL HEALTH SERVICES:

Cont…Preventing Ear, Nose, and Throat Disorders Preventing Sleep Apnea

Sleep apnea is a condition where a person stops breathing for brief periods of time while asleep. It is very common in the United States and can be harmful if left untreated. Fortunately, there are many treatments available, and sleep apnea can often be cured. Here are some good ideas to prevent or keep sleep apnea at bay.

Maintain healthy body weight.

Avoid alcohol or sedatives at bedtime.

Identify and treat tonsillitis, nasal polyps or other disorders that can cause airway obstruction.

Quit smoking.

Not all ENT disorders can be prevented. Many depend on inherited traits; however, following these suggestions may serve to keep you healthier in the future. Hand washing remains at the forefront of disease prevention, along with other isolation practices, including coughing into your sleeve and staying at home while you are sick. These guidelines can also help strengthen your immune system, decreasing the likelihood of catching an illness and limiting the amount of time you spend sick.
