THE HOLY GOSPEL (Mk 3:13-19)

The Holy Gospel according to St. Mark

Jesus went up the mountain and summoned those whom he wanted and they came to him. He appointed twelve whom he also named apostles that they might be with him and he might send them forth to preach and to have authority to drive out demons: he appointed the twelve: Simon, whom he named Peter; James, son of Zebedee, and John the brother of James, whom he named Boanerges, that is, sons of thunder; Andrew, Philip, Bartholomew, Matthew, Thomas, James the son of Alphaeus; Thaddeus, Simon the Cananean, and Judas Iscariot who betrayed him.

Reflections:

The apostles were unschooled, but it did not deter them in becoming Disciples of Christ. Economic, political, social and educational status is not the qualifying factor of becoming a disciple. Therefore, God’s invitation is encompassing. It goes beyond classes, gender and wordily achievement. What is decisive is our acceptance of God’s invitation.

Prayer:

Let us pray.. Lead us, O Lord to the right path. May we become your followers now and forever. Amen St. John Baptist de La Salle…….Pray for us!

Live Jesus in our hearts………… Forever!
