THE HOLY GOSPEL (Jn 4, 43-54) The Holy Gospel according to St. John

Jesus left Samaria for Galilee. He himself had testified that no one esteems a prophet in his own country. When he arrived in Galilee, the people there welcomed him. They themselves had been at the feast and had seen all that he had done in Jerusalem on that occasion.

He went to Cana in Galilee once more, where he had made the water into wine. At Capernaum there happened to be a royal official whose son was ill. When he heard that Jesus had come back from Judea to Galilee, he went to him and begged him to come down and restore health to his son, who was near death. Jesus replied, “Unless you people see signs and wonders, you do not believe.” “Sir,” the royal official pleaded with him, “come down before my child dies.” Jesus told him,

“Return home. Your son will live.” The man put his trust in the word Jesus spoke to him, and started for home.

He was on his way there when his servants met him in the news that his boy was going to live. When he asked them at what time the boy had shown improvement, they told him, “The fever left him yesterday afternoon about one.” It was at that very hour, the father realized, that Jesus had told him, “Your son is going to live.” He and his whole household thereupon became believers. This was the second sign that Jesus performed on returning from Judea to Galilee.

Reflection:

We have a difficult time believing in something we don’t see or experience. Faith is that blessing we have when, despite everything the world throws at us, our faith persists.

Prayer:

Let us pray… Lord, teach us to grow in faith. Amen.

St. John Baptist de La Salle…….Pray for us!

Live Jesus in our hearts………… Forever!

From the GS Christian Living What’s So Good about Good Friday?

Still, why call the day of Jesus’ death “Good Friday” instead of “Bad Friday” or something similar? Some Christian traditions do take this approach: in German, for example, the day is called Karfreitag, or “Sorrowful Friday.” In English, in fact, the origin of the term “Good” is debated: some believe it developed from an older name, “God’s Friday.”

Regardless of the origin, the name Good Friday is entirely appropriate because the suffering and death of Jesus, as terrible as it was, marked the dramatic culmination of God’s plan to save his people from their sins. Fire Prevention Month

Safety and Fire Prevention - Top 10 Fire Safety Tips Install and maintain smoke alarms

Smoke alarms alert you to fire and give you time to escape.

Install smoke alarms on each level of your home.

Test smoke alarms regularly and follow the manufacturer's instructions.

Replace weak or dead batteries immediately with new ones.

Remember, if your smoke alarms are hardwired they will not function during a power failure - consider installing a backup battery powered smoke alarm as an additional asset to your home.

Have a home fire escape plan

Make a home fire escape plan and practice your plan so that everyone knows what to do in the event of a fire emergency.

Prepare and practice a fire escape plan with every member of your household.

Look for two ways out of each room - windows and doors. If you get caught in smoke, the cleanest air will be near the floor.

Get down on your hands and knees and crawl to the nearest safe exit.

Arrange an outside meeting place and a safe location to call the fire department.

Never go back inside for anything!

Kitchen Safety

Never leave cooking unattended.

Keep children at least 1 meter away from around the stove.

Don't wear loose fitting clothing and be careful not to reach over hot burners.

If a pot catches fire, cover it with a lid to smother the flames and turn off the burner.

Keep pot handles turned inward.
