PROBL.E S, RECOMMENDATIONS AND PLANS

In addition to academic staff, there is also a need for non-academic staff in various offices and departments of the University. The main problems in the buildings of the CVM Los Banos campus are leaking roofs. There is also a need to construct a separate building for the Department of Veterinary Clinical Sciences.

The new building will house DVCS offices, departmental laboratories and a model Veterinary Hospital. It is also necessary to install locks on doors and bars on all windows for all facilities. There is an urgent need for an electrical generator to serve the college's electricity needs during outages.

Different laboratories in the different departments; the various stations at the Veterinary Teaching Hospital as well as administrative offices lack some equipment, instruments and supplies. At least one bus is needed to transport students on field trips, laboratory classes in Tabon and at various stations in itEl Veterinary Clinics. There is also a need to repair one of the buses for condemnation as well as budget for the repair and maintenance of existing vehicles.

there; there is a need to set up a virology laboratory to expose students to current techniques and conduct research in virology, immunology and molecular biology. There is also a need to repair the incubator, microscopes, conditioners, slide projector, overhead projector, cryostat, tissue processor, fume hood, freezer and laminar flow cabinets. DVCS does not have working laboratories for large animal surgery, theriogenology and diagnostic imaging due to lack of necessary facilities, equipment and supplies.

The proposed changes will be studied in the light of the requirements of the Commission for Higher Education and the recommendations of the Technical Panel for Agricultural Education. The offer of Master of Veterinary Medicine (MVSt) in the distance mode will be further studied. The College will continue to pursue basic and applied research in various fields of veterinary medicine.
