The next item on the agenda was the President's Academic Report for the 2021-2022 academic year. A testament to the successful handling of the delivery of education by the FEU Group of Schools in pandemic conditions was the consolidated enrollment figures.
In SY, however, despite the public health crisis, students returned, perhaps buoyed by the favorable feedback from the previous year's FEU school experience. The historical trend in the size of the graduating class has been to roughly match that of freshmen, with a four-year lag. An indicator of the educational quality of the FEU Group of Schools is the examination performance of the graduates.
As can be expected, FEU Manila is recognized by the Philippine Commission on Higher Education (CHED) as one of the best universities in the country. In addition, the Department of Education's pedagogical programs are a CHED Center of Excellence. An important aspect of the FEU Group of Schools' commitment to academic excellence is the teaching and learning innovations that the schools continuously embrace.
The graph reports the number of peer-reviewed research publications of the FEU Manila and FEU Tech faculty from SY 2016‒2017 to SY 2021‒ 2022. A larger public exhibition is now planned; it is organized by the CES team together with the Marketing Faculty of the Business Management Department and the artist faculty of the Fine Arts Department. To address the expressed needs of the prison officers themselves, the CES team devised Project JOInT (Prison Officers Training).
Working with the National Fisheries Development Center of the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources,. After seven grueling preliminary rounds, four of the top teams – one each from Luzon, Visayas, Mindanao and the National Capital Region – competed in the championship round. This is a strategic move that would draw on the deep resources and international expertise of the World Bank to accelerate FEUs.
Due to the ongoing covid-19 pandemic, in-person schooling in SY 2021-2022 was generally still prohibited by law.
ANNUAL REPORT AND AUDITED FINANCIAL STATEMENTS
Over the past ten years, through regulatory, legislative and natural disaster upheavals, the FEU Group of Schools has persevered in its pursuit of academic excellence and relevance. The next order of business was the record of the annual report and approval of the audited financial statements for the years ended May 31 and 2020. FEU was among the first schools to return to limited face-to-face instruction in the second semester of 2022. , which our students gladly accepted.
Pre-pandemic enrollment has been reached, with over 44,000 students across our three core brands - Far Eastern University, FEU Tech and FEU Roosevelt. Financial results remain strong, with Php 4.1 billion in revenue and Php 1.5 billion in net income. Sadly, international surveys show that the Philippines has really fallen behind statistically in the basics like reading, math and science.
And of course this was exacerbated by the two years of pandemic schooling or the lack of face-to-face schooling. Fortunately, I think a day ago, the Secretary of the Department of Education allows private schools to have a choice about their medium of instruction. From our point of view, face-to-face learning is clearly better for social and educational purposes, especially in interactive class discussions that promote outcome-based learning.
