University Safety Measures and Reminders for the Novel Coronavirus Starting February 3, 2020

In light of the confirmed case of Novel Coronavirus infection in the country and several others being confirmed by the Department of Health (DOH), De La Salle Araneta University has undertaken precautionary measures to prevent the spread of the virus.

Starting February 3, 2020 (Monday), the University through its security personnel will be screening the

temperature using thermal scanners of all those entering the campus in all of its gates. As long lines are expected due to this measure, we request for everyone’s patience and understanding and advise all to allocate additional time for this to avoid being late in class and campus appointments. Additional instructions have been given to

security and medical personnel in the event of fever detection. Those that presently have fever and exhibiting flu-like symptoms are strongly advised and encouraged to prioritize seeking medical attention. Absences due to sickness, request for make-up classes and conduct of academic online teaching and learning especially of students may be arranged as the need arise.

The community is urged to continue to practice good personal hygiene and adopt a healthy lifestyle in all places at all times. As one’s health is one’s responsibility, we strongly advise everyone to make provisions and bring their own face masks and portable hygiene kits. Alcohol dispensers are stationed at the entrances and have been made available to everyone. Additional areas are presently being identified and evaluated for provisioning.

Those who travelled to China between January 13 to present are required to self-quarantine at home for at least 14 days and seek medical attention. Those that have gone to other countries with patients under investigation are also encouraged to check for symptoms and to seek medical attention.

We enjoin everyone’s cooperation in this measures and others that may come soon after as we monitor the

situation and await further announcements and guidance from government agencies and other private institutions.

Continue to monitor our social media (De La Salle Araneta University) for advisories, announcements and additional information.
