The course focuses on the general and regular basic education curriculum (K to 12) and general teaching and classroom management strategies to address diversity in the classroom.

The course focuses on formal and informal assessment tools and procedures for assessing the educational needs of learners; utilization of assessment results to inform educational programming.

SDEVIEDPLANS: Development of Individualized Education Plan
Units: Lec: 3 Lab: 0 Pre-requisite: SEASADNEEDS, SCURPEDINCED The course focuses in developing individualized education programs, individualized family service plans, behavior intervention plans and individualized transition programs based on assessment results.
SEARLYCHILD: Early Childhood Inclusive Education
Units: Lec: 3 Lab: 0 Pre-requisite: SEASADNEEDS, SCURPEDINCED The course focuses in addressing educational need of special learners from ages 0 to 9 years old with emphasis on early intervention and home-school partnership.
STRANSNEDUC: Transition Education
Units: Lec: 3 Lab: 0 Pre-requisite: SEASADNEEDS, SCURPEDINCED The course focuses on independent living and transition planning for learners with exceptionalities using a strengths-based approach and developing comprehensive transition systems and supports.
SRESNEEDSED1: Research in Special Needs and Inclusive Education 1 Units: Lec: 3 Lab: 0 Pre-requisite: THIRD YEAR STANDING
This course focuses on the critical review of research studies and other works on the end, content, pedagogy and philosophy of special and inclusive education. The requirements and vital components of scholarly research should be introduced to the students who may later work individually or groups of two or three. Under the close supervision of the teacher, the study of values education issues/ controversis, research problems and the manner by which they were addressed should enable students to determine the appropriate ways of anwering research questions. The course requires the stduents to write a scholarly review of literature (i.e. books, e-journals, etc.) on the planned research. The final output is a well-documented and tenable research proposal which will be defended orally before the end of the semester.

This course is the continuation of Research in Values Education I. The students will be gathering data for their proposal and processing the data upon the help of a thesis adviser. The students will continue to consult their adviser until the study is concluded.
The final requirement for this coursed is a full research paper that must be defended orally in a panel, presented at a local or international conference or published in a research journal before submission of the students’ final grades.
