Library Hours and Facility

The library is now operating in a hybrid set-up. The physical library is open from 7:00 AM to 8:00 PM Monday through Saturday, except holidays.

1. Reservations are no longer required. Accepting users will be on a first-come, first- served basis.

2. Ask the library personnel in charge at the library entrance for the seat assignment.

3. The user is not permitted to change seats. Use the assigned seat number.

4. Physical distancing (1 meter apart) shall be observed.

5. The user must always wear a face mask. They shall bring their own alcohol or hand sanitizer, toilet paper, and an extra face mask.

6. The no-talking rule will be strictly enforced.

7. Library services will cease 15 minutes before the closing time.

The library will continue to accept requests for online services to meet the needs of patrons who prefer to study remotely. All inquiries or requests received after the library's service hours will be addressed on the following library day.

The library's services are available only to enrolled students, active faculty and staff, and alumni who are reviewing for board examinations.

Online Document Delivery Service

This service is used when requesting scanned/digitized or electronic copies of book chapters, journal articles, or other library resources. Depending on the number and availability of requests, this can be provided within a day or within a maximum of three (3) days.

To avail this service:

1. Answer the form in this link: ODDS Request Form or shorturl.at/ajrxR or email the full citation of your request to [email protected]

2. Wait for the library’s email.

Because of copyright restrictions, digitized materials are only available for online reading and cannot be downloaded or shared with others. Access to digitized materials is limited to two (2) weeks, but can be extended upon request.

Online Orientation and Information Literacy

The library provides library orientation and information literacy via Zoom or the GMeet platform. Patrons can schedule a 30-minute one-on-one or group orientation to discuss how the library can help them with their studies or research and educate them on how to maximize the available resources and services.

1. Book Appointment at the Library RORA Picktime Account

2. Click online orientation > RORA-Ramon Online Reference Assistant 3. Select the available date and time

4. Fill-out the required fields, and then click BOOK APPOINTMENT.

5. Wait for the email confirmation from the library

For Group Orientation: Someone may Book an Appointment and then share the link with the other person who wishes to attend the orientation.

Note: Please join in the meeting/orientation on time.

Borrowing and Returning Printed Books

To borrow:

Onsite borrowing:

A user may visit the library during the physical library operating hours posted at the library website.

1. Ask assistance from the library personnel at the counter. Give them the title of the book that you wish to borrow.

Book for pick-up:

Go to https://library.uerm.edu.ph

1. Log in your account (the default username and password is the patron’s UERM ID number)

2. On the search box, type the title of the book that you want to borrow. Press Enter or Click the Go Button.

3. Click the Reserve Item button located below the description of the book 4. Click Confirm Hold.

5. Wait for the library email confirming the receipt of your reservation.

6. Email to the library your preferred date and time of pickup. Except holidays, the pick-up schedule is from Monday-Saturday, 8:30 AM - 4:30 PM only. Include the name of the person who will pick up the book(s) in your e-mail. Please arrive on time.

7. Book pick-up via courier, borrower will initiate the booking to courier and shoulder the pick-up fee.

notification will mean cancellation or forfeiture of the requested material/s.

To return the borrowed books:

1. Via a face-to-face library visit, hand it over to the library personnel at the counter.

2. Via drop-off, return the library materials to the JMC Guard on duty at the North Campus's Main Gate. Please get the full name of the guard who received the book. If via courier, borrower will initiate the booking to courier and shoulder the delivery fee.

3. Notify the library ([email protected]) via email that you returned the book.

Please include the title(s) of the book(s) you returned, as well as the name of the guard (if via drop-off), the date and time of return.

Visual Instructions in Borrowing Printed Books and Library Borrowing Policy Current Awareness Services (CAS)

The library informs its patrons about new services and resources that are available in the library. This includes, but is not limited to, information about new acquisitions, new subscriptions, trial databases, COVID-19 updates, and the like. This information is available in the library's online catalog, which also serves as the library's website, the library's page on the UERM Portal, the library's Facebook page, and the UERM Canvas Dashboard. In addition, information is disseminated via email blasts and, in some cases, Infotxt or SMS.

Selective Dissemination of Information (SDI)

The library informs the head of each department when new materials in their areas of specialization are acquired. Information is disseminated through email.

Remote Access to SPSS Version 29

The IBM SPSS software platform offers advance statistical analysis, a vast library of machine learning algorithms, text analysis, open source extensibility, integration with big data and seamless deployment into applications.

SPSS can be used remotely through AnyDesk App.

Instructions:

1. Download and install AnyDesk App in your PC or Laptop

2. Send an email to the library ([email protected]) with the date and time you want to use SPSS. When emailing the library, use your UERM email address.

3. Wait for the email confirmation from the library and the instruction on how to access the app remotely.

E-Library

The use of computers at the e-library section is strictly limited to research purposes only. A user may use the computer for free for two (2) hours per day. Accessing sites that are not research-related is strictly prohibited, including chat rooms, gaming sites, and the like. The time allotted might be extended if no other library patrons express a need for it.

The use of the e-library for group activity (e.g., online examination) must be reserved a week ahead of the day of use.

Signing of Clearance

The registrar is in charge of obtaining library clearance for students. Clearance of faculty and employees can be done on-site while adhering to strict protocols.

Remote Access to Online Resources or Databases

The library has subscribed to a number of well-chosen online resources/databases that patrons can access remotely. These resources include e-books, e-journals, videos, images, clinical overviews, drug information, and other information useful for library patrons' curricular and research needs.

The following are the resources descriptions and instructions on how to access it:

For new account:

1. Visit www.clinicalkey.com 2. Click Register (top right)

3. Enter the required data – use your UERM email address, this will be your username the next time you log-in

4. Once logged-in, click your name (top right) and select Remote Access from the drop-down menu

5. Enter your UERM email address and click Continue

6. Activate your Remote Access by clicking the link in the confirmation email sent to you

 For renewal of remote access, perform steps 4 to 6 in CK Instructions to restore full access.

For the initial registration:

1. Visit the library for onsite registration or answer the form in the link: UpToDate Account Registration Request Form or shorturl.at/hkpF9. Further instruction will be given after answering the form.

For Remote Access Renewal:

1. Answer the form in the link: UpToDate Account Renewal Request Form or shorturl.at/hkpF9

2. Wait for the library’s email confirming your account’s registration or renewal

Publisher’s authentication: Remote access to UpToDate must be renewed every three (3) months. Answer the form again when prompted to re-verify your affiliation with UERM.

Username and password need not be changed at every renewal.

◘ Students and faculty of the other colleges who do not have remote access to the database can still browse it and request a pdf copy of the book chapter or image they want to read.

◘ Email the library the title and the chapter number of the book.

Remote Access to Individually Subscribed Online Journal

The following journal titles are available for access onsite or within the UERM IP range;

however library customers can browse the abstract and request the full text. Simply send the full-text request to [email protected]
