8. Abstract:
8.1. $lgnnafy. The objective of the study was Lo
determine the extent to which certain 21tt century
trends are incorporated into the present nursirrg
curriculum. The descriptive type of regearch was used
with a questionnaire as the data gathering tool. The study lnvolved 295 students, faculty and
admlnistrators of schools of nursing in ttre Baguio-
Benguet area. 'Only students who were enrolled in the Associate in Health Sciense Education (AHSE)
curriculum leadlng to the degree of Bachelor of Science in Nursing were included in the study. No
sampling techniques were employed. Statistical
treatment of data included the use of weighted means,
and the F test or one-way Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) with post hoc comparison using Scheffe's method.

Overall, there were moderatelyextensive-provirions
for
the incorporationof
the 21-"1 century Lrendsinto
thecurriculum.
Specifically, there were moderately extensive provisionsfor
theincorporation
of
transcult.ural nursing, populationbased care,
interdisciplinary
education, research, andcontinuing education. There were only adeguate
provislons
for
the incorporationof
technology,alternative
therapi-es, genetics and genomics, Ehecost-effecti-veness
of
health care and managed care.There were
significant
differencesin
the perceptionsof
students,faculty
and administrators regarding Ehelncorporation
of
the 2L"t century trends.Administrators perceived a more extensive
incorporation
of
these trendslnto
the curriculum, as comparedto
thefaculty
andstudents.
Curricular gapswere
identified
al-ong the areasof
transcultural nursing, technology,alternative
therapies, genomics,and the cost-effectiveness
of
health care and managedcare.
Based on theidentified
gqps, neasures to enrich the nursing curriculum were formulated.8.3.

The present nursing currlculum was only being parLialLy implemented. There were certain weaknessesin
