Sending messages that are fraudulent, malicious, harassing, obscene, threatening, or in violation of University laws, rules, and regulations will be considered a violation of the AUP. Regarding Regent Aguiluz's comment regarding the possibility of the AUP being interpreted differently by different CUs, Regent Go said there should be only one interpretation of the AUP across all CUs and for the entire university. However, Regent Guillermo argued that the interpretation of what acts constitute such violations remains problematic, citing the possible misinterpretation of some valid teaching materials, such as the study of pornography, where teaching materials can be misinterpreted as obscene or pornographic.
He also assured the Board that the AUP explicitly provides that the relevant rules and regulations of the CSC also apply to violations of the ICT policies of the UP. He also proposed to have an automatic annual review of the AUP to account for new technological developments in the ICT environment. Dymphna Javier, presented to the board a proposal to establish a Scientific Research Center at UP Baguio.
